The question is simple, what is a SEO consultant and what does a SEO consultant do? Is a SEO consultant a person that outsources the work for their client or someone who gives advice to their client on which service to go with?

A consultant is someone who Asks a business what they wish to achieve.
Analyses that business to see what it needs to achieve it.
Makes a report on their findings and then offers to oversee the implementation
And the management of the required work.

That kind of sums it all up and 'what the company wants to achieve' - here means their Online presence. Online presence includes everything from Search engine rankings to rep management and CRO etc.

Does the consultant specify all of the costs? As an example, there's a great backlinking service that the business needs at $50 per month, does the consultant tell the client that it will cost them $50? Or does the consultant charge the client with his own fee of for example $100 per month hence making a profit of $50? Or does the consultant tell the client that the service costs $50 and if the client is happy the consultant will manage this at a fee of $50?

O.o

You always keep control of the project. Never introduce the client to anyone,
they will cut you out as soon as possible. You take control of the project from
start to end. you charge a fee for the complete project and handle all the outsourcing within your budget.

So how does the conversation with the client go? I mean, how do I talk to such a client? Do I tell the client that I will be outsourcing or do I just tell them that they will need this and that, the total price will be this much and I will get my "????????" to start the work.

You tell them that you have a "team" and you will need some payment upfront. Don;t reveal that you will be outsourcing.

Never tell the client that you are going to get the work done from someone else. Like stated above, say you have a 'team of experts' that work for you. You should be charging a fee with a good margin.

You maybe getting the work done for just $50, but charge the client $200 .. because he will be making a LOT more than he is spending on SEO right now and he knows that.

Another thing .. don't tell the person you are working with .. who the client is. Only YOU should be the one interacting with both the parties.

basically your the middle man between the outsourcer and the client... And like most business that has middle men they will always try to cut you out of the picture and save more if you connect them with the other. But for my own personal experiences. I always charge XXX just to make sure that i am making an substantial profit and to put into different ventures and like daserpent says they will yield much more than they are spending with you.

SEO Consultant is Golden Bird for any business Owner

Because He make any business to top by giving valuable suggestion to B-owner

Yeah and this is where a brainstorm is needed on how to communicate between the two without them knowing about each other. This is probably the hardest part as it will take time to set everything up in such a way where the person outsourcing the work is not able to communicate with the client of the SEO consultant.

You see, in another thread you said this:

There are 2 ways to deal with this :

1) Ask the client to get WHOIS Privacy. Considering the client is spending thousands a year on SEO .. he can surely put $20 into this.

2) This is the technique used by most of the expert SEO

FAO ? What is FAO ?

Yes, you have to self-host these blogs.. no wordpress, blogger blogs .. your own .coms and .nets.

If you really want to do the way it should be done ..then you need to create a nice link wheel. A small example would be :

a) 5 self-hosted blogs - linking to money site
b ) 15 free blogs ( blogger etc ) - linking to self-hosted blogs ( 3 per 1 self-hosted blog)
c) Social bookmarking, link building ( to the free blogs ), RSS feed submissions etc - All for just the free blogs
d) Last step - Build links to the bookmarks and profile links, scrapebox links etc

You will get a rough estimate of the setup now. ofcourse you cannot redirect blogger blogs etc.

Let's say this is the scenario:

1. I take a reseller package thanks to which I am able to offer hosting to various clients.
2. I manage to get three clients that need hosting.
3. Those three clients are all hosted on my reseller package hence they all have the same shared IP address.
4. All of the clients want to have SEO work done on their domain.
5. If I am going to build five self hosted blogs to each one of my clients there will be a total of fifteen self hosted blogs.
6. Because of SEO purposes I will need to get a different host for each one of these self hosted blogs meaning that I will need to look for 15 different hosting companies because otherwise I will be using the same IP's to point to the same shared IP of my clients meaning that Google will ???? not count the SEO??
7. And this is where I get confused...

As a consultant I would use the theory of the $100 example but charge $500. Or am I just evil with my prices?

The business will still think this is a great deal especially when you compare it with the price of conventional advertising (yellow pages, news paper ect.)

And you never say you are going to out source, you and 'your team' will be doing this.

Hope I helped.

You don't need 15 different hosting companies. Use c class ips. There are numerous hosts that can provide you with any number of ips you need.

Try these:

http://www.seohosting.com/
http://www.seowebhosting.net/
http://www.multipleiphosting.com/

Do C class IP's really do the trick? I read a post somewhere here in BHW that SEO hosting is actually all bullshit?
Also, if for example, I am trying to rank a UK domain, would it be best to go for European SEO plans? Or USA SEO plans would be good enough?

What do you think about reselling SEO from larger companies that provide SEO reseller packages?

Marketer - Someone who Sell's To you
Consultant - Someone who Advisor's you, with your Best Interest at Heart.

How is C Class Bullshit, The Domain's are like Instead of having Same IP, so you live on the Same Street, your like in a Different Suburb.

There is time's people do get Punished for Similar Ip's

Like alot of site's I have I Checked the IP all DOmains with Similar IP's are all Affiliate Site's also.
Pretty much most of them are.

I Could Understand if google or someone went, we don't like you Marketer's,we'll De-index all of you.

It's Generally Speculation, & people being Slightly Paranoid I believe, But when I saw all the Site's with Similar Ip's To mine from Same Hosting are all same type of Affiliate Site's, Squeeze pages, & re-worked PLR ect.
Hrm..

Yeah if the domain is not privacy protected and can be looked up via who is , it won't be long before your outsourced help will know who your client is.

Also I am sure that if the outsourced help wanted to contact the client thru his email link on the clients site and try and cut you out of the game, there really is no way to protect yourself from that....

The one thing I have against SEO hosting is the complaints that may blacklist the IPS and in turn mess up rankings for everyone.
