Maybe some credible group can launch a search engine - with just pure web links without any AI overview, I think there exists a vast audience who would be interested in pure link search only.

this is going to be interesting, navigating google is always challenging but fruitfull.

good luck to everyone.

Well well well... here we are boys, let's pack up our bags and make a colony on Mars without internet.

What a crazy era to live in. We'll see how it goes anyway..
Yup this is the best place to crack it, won’t be easy this time but I’m excited to check who can figure a way to win from this
New opportunities, the ones who adapt fast win
Yup we BHW fam will definitely will

It’s not easy to launch one, and I doubt anyone will do that but I personally would prefer clicking on links

Elon is selling tickets but you’ll have to use google to find the correct link :p
All people saying seo is death are finally right.
SEO changed and now it’s a massive reset so let’s wait and see how experts decode this and what ways come to earn back traffic
The best time to diversify your traffic source was yesterday, the next best time is today/now. Anybody who's only relying on Google for traffic is planning to lose.
True people use Reddit, Instagram for traffic but only we’ll know the power once google had especially with blackhat methods we’ll end to an era but hopefully we can do something from this fingers crossed.

Top 10 is gone. Now its our job to capture the momentum of interactivity. You can't call a one way blog a solution anymore. Now the masses doesn't care for anything lacking interactivity, after chatbots got released.

Is it? I think the article is significantly overstating what was actually announced.

Google never said that the traditional SERP is disappearing entirely. It is just being moved into a dedicated "Web" tab and will always be accessible to those who prefer it.

What they announced are additional features of the existing AI mode. It's more like UI changes to the AI mode, not the elimination of the traditional SERP.

A classic tech journalism drama from TechCrunch.

Maybe, but I still think that the top 10 is relic to be soon retired. Personally I say bring back the top 100 results! lol Power users preference! :D

True. Can't ignore the CTR for organic results dropping like crazy in the recent years. AI features everywhere.

Maybe not entirely but consider the fact that Google also has Books tab and images tab but you rarely use those. Whatever is the default tab is the main target so ten blue links is over.

if they DO retire the top 10, and then the most popular query is always things like "Whats the top 10 best sites for widgets......" lol then what? :D

This was expected but now it’s official time to further rack our brains how to capitalise on this, drive traffic back and earn. It won’t be big like before but will need more adaption.

Google Search is changing due to AI answers, so organic traffic may decrease. But search is not over — it still exists. Now success depends on combining SEO with brand building and using multiple traffic sources.

It’s a massive wake-up call, but it just means the meta is changing. The days of farming easy traffic from generic informational keywords are officially over.

The real winners now will be the one who adapt early, traffic sources and focus on building genuine audience trust instead of shortcuts.
