Instagram Following Limit

Generally 200-300 follows/day is safe for aged accounts, while new accounts get much lower limits. Nowadays it's not a fixed limit anymore. It depends on account age, activity, and trust. Instagram now applies dynamic restriction based on behavior.

some things are :
Age of the account
engagement
Activity pattern
That's why some people do 200+ actions and some get restricted to 50.

From what I’ve seen, it mostly depends on how old and active the account is.

Older, well-established accounts usually have more flexibility with follow/unfollow actions.

Newer accounts tend to have stricter limits, so it’s better to go slow and stay consistent.

The 200/day mark hasn't really increased significantly yet, but a healthy account can still reach that level if spread evenly throughout the day.

did the limit really use to be 200 per day or was it less than that

50 to 100 for newly fresh account. and you can repeat it 3 to 4 times a week not daily.
for aged and proper warmed up account you can still follow 200 users but not at once.

It is advise to always warm profile using different button to grow profile, growing profile with follow and unfollow method require following minimum number of profiles to avoid suspend of profile or limitation on every most use button/features of the app.

My mother/slave accounts do 70-80 daily. But that's to stay safe, I wouldn't do more than 100

Safe limit is usually around 100 150 follows per day for established accounts but it depends on account age and activity patterns

It basically depends on which accounts you run. Fresh accounts are much more limited than aged ones. Also, flagged ones or not. Across all kind, you could be from 20-30 to 150 follows per day. Always stay safe.

You can do 100+; however it might be better to do 50 and go from there. Otherwise you are putting the account at risk. Just start with 50 and go from there.

Honestly, to be fair, on an account created via phone number (I haven't tested email yet), you can easily follow more than 250 people on the first day, even within the first few minutes of creating the account.

After all, Instagram tends to be more permissive with new accounts; when someone has just signed up, it's expected they'll start following a bunch of suggested profiles and liking posts while they're exploring the platform. Based on my tests here, that was the result.

But of course, this is just a burst. What you do after following (or even while following) matters quite a bit in order to actually reach your objective.
