I would say keep building on what you already know and slowly explore technical SEO too , even if it feels a bit tricky at first . Watching a few practical tutorials and testing things on your own site helps a lot . You do not need to learn everything once , just stay consistent.
 
I also started from off-page only, best way is go step by step: first learn basic on-page (titles, keywords, content structure), then practice on a small blog daily. Keep testing and you’ll naturally understand SEO flow better.
 
At this stage, are you focusing more on strengthening on-page fundamentals or continuing with off-page learning alongside it?

Also, in your experience so far, have you found it easier to understand SEO through practical testing on your own site, or by following structured learning resources?

My Primary area of focus is improving my on-page fundamentals, while progressively learning about off-page SEO, and practical experimentation on sample/test sites allows me to gain hands-on experience. Therefore, it is a much more reliable method than theoretical knowledge.

You gotta start with the absolute fundamentals like on-page optimization, content strategy, and technical seo first, then deep dive into analytics to see what's actually working before you even think about mastering everything else
 
Great start with offpage SEO To move forwardfocus on learning SEO basics (like keywords and search engine functions) then dive into onpage SEO (titles, meta tags, etc.) improve offpage SEO (quality backlinks ) and explore technical SEO (site speed mobile friendliness) Practice consistently on a website/blog

SEO learning roadmap in short:

Start with basics — Moz Beginner's Guide and Ahrefs Blog (both free)

On-Page first — Keywords, title tags, meta descriptions, site speed

Then Off-Page — Backlinks, DA/DR, anchor text, link velocity

Practice on a real site — Build a niche blog, track with Google Search Console

Stay updated — Search Engine Journal and Neil Patel blog

Semrush Academy and Google Digital Garage have free certifications worth doing.

Consistency for 3 to 6 months — results will come!

Start by learning the basics properly before chasing advanced tactics.understanding backlinks, anchor text, and relevance is important for strong off page seo...consistency and practical testing usually teach more than just watching tutorials...

That’s actually the best stage to be in — curiosity + basic knowledge.

Now don’t try to learn “everything” together.
SEO becomes easy when you learn it in this order:

1. Keyword Research → Learn how people search.


2. On-Page SEO → Titles, content, internal links, structure.


3. Technical SEO → Speed, indexing, schema, crawl issues.


4. Off-Page SEO → Backlinks, guest posting, outreach, PBNs.


5. Local SEO & Programmatic SEO → Advanced growth strategies.



Best way to learn:

Make your own small website/blog.

Practice daily instead of only watching videos.
 
Off page SEO is mostly about brand presence and building backlinks. You should start by improving the social media presence of your website and then initiate discussion on your website on local groups, communities, forums, etc. Earlier it was all about backlinks but now Google started diversifying off page signals. So, you better find as many platforms as you can to promote your brand.
 
Google’s own search docs are good free resources to go through. once you have the basics down start testing on a real site because hands on experience teaches you more than any course.
