People often say consistency is everything on YouTube. That is only partly true.
Consistency helps, but not because the algorithm rewards a strict upload schedule. It helps because viewers know what to expect and because a steady publishing rhythm prevents long gaps where your audience stops engaging. Like others have said...
Now, the bigger mistake is usually not uploading too little. It is publishing inconsistently or releasing multiple videos at once when they could have been spaced out. If you have several finished videos, keeping some in reserve can help you maintain a regular schedule during busy periods.
That said, consistency cannot make up for weak topics, poor titles and thumbnails, or videos that fail to hold viewers' attention. A great video uploaded every few weeks will often outperform average videos uploaded every week.
For new channels, do not obsess over perfect upload timing. Focus on making strong videos and publishing them at a pace you can realistically sustain. As your library grows, consistency becomes more valuable because it gives viewers more reasons to return.
The goal is not to upload as often as possible. The goal is to deliver quality videos on a schedule you can maintain over the long term. But I think that's already known obviously.
