I’ve been trying to grow a fresh Instagram page over the past few weeks, mainly using Reels and consistent posting.

The weird thing is — some posts get decent reach, but most just die quickly after a few hours. It feels very inconsistent compared to what I expected.

I’m not using any automation or paid promos, just trying to keep it organic.

For those who are actively growing pages right now:

• Is this normal with the current algorithm?
• Does consistency eventually stabilize reach?

It's definitely not just you. Instagram's organic reach in 2026 is much more 'hit or miss' than it used to be. The algorithm seems to test your content with a small group first, and if they don't engage immediately, it just kills the reach.

Consistency does help, but it’s more about 'Signal' consistency than just posting every day. Try to focus on shares and saves rather than just likes—those are the metrics that usually push Reels into the wider explore page lately.
