Are guest posts still worth it after recent updates?

not really. Sometimes SEO can't be measured, but on the other hand, it's possible that your keywords are on the web.

Guest posts used to be a solid ranking method.

But now I’m seeing:

  • Some sites getting no movement from DR 50+ links
  • While contextual niche edits seem stronger

Are guest posts still part of your strategy or have you shifted elsewhere?

Guest posts are still relevant but have to be done strategically from authority websites only. If the sites that you create guest posts from are penalised or don't have enough traffic you will get less link juice.

Guest posts are still valuable , just not in the same way they used to be.

For example, getting a link from a DR 50+ site doesn’t automatically mean it will help. If the site lacks relevant content, isn’t topically focused, and the article is packed with monetized outbound links, the impact will be minimal.

In my experience, niche edits tend to perform better than traditional guest posts. The page you’re getting the link from is usually aged, indexed, and already receiving traffic. Plus, you can place the link naturally within a relevant, existing article — which often makes the signal stronger.

That said, guest posts still work when:
  • The site is topically aligned
  • The page is ranking and getting real traffic
  • The article has low outbound links (OBLs)
  • The placement looks natural and editorial
It’s less about the DR metric and more about relevance, context, and page quality.

Guest posts still work. just not all of them.

A high DR number doesn’t guarantee results. If the site has no real traffic or isn’t relevant, the link won’t do much.

Niche edits often work better because the link is placed on a page that already ranks and has authority.

I still use guest posts, but I focus more on:
1.Relevance
2.Real traffic
3.Natural placement

It’s less about metrics and more about quality.

From what I’ve seen, guest posts still work when they’re truly relevant and traffic-based, but contextual links on real niche sites often move rankings faster.

Guest posts can still work, but they're not as powerful as before. Just chasing high DR links doesn't help much now. What matters more is relevance and real traffic. If the site is genuine and fits your niche, it's fine. Otherwise, the link won't do much.

guest post sites re still effective, you should stop choosing guest post by considering metrics like DA/DR while links, check the guest post site traffic, relevance, history. by checking these and linking you will get better results.

Guest posts still work - but only when they’re real placements with traffic, relevance, and editorial integrity. A DR 50+ site with no topical alignment or real audience won’t move the needle much anymore.

Contextual niche edits often hit harder because they’re aged URLs with existing trust and link equity. It’s less about the format now, more about context, history, and footprint control.

Guest posts still work but the approach needs to change. The problem isn't guest posts themselves it's that everyone is buying from the same overused blog networks that google have learned to ignore.

What's been working for me lately: instead of chasing high dr sites from generic seller lists, I look at which domains ai platforms like chatgpt, perplexity etc. are actually citing when they answer queries in a specific niche. These are the sources ai trusts and they're usually not the same sites link sellers are pushing.

The results have been solid because these placements are contextually relevant, the domains are genuine authority sources in the niche, and they're not saturated with sponsored posts. Plus there's a bonus if ai already cites that domain, a mention of your brand there can directly influence what chatgpt and perplexity recommend.

I still use guest posts, but way more selectively than before. DR alone means nothing now if the site has no real traffic, no topical relevance, or looks like a link farm with 50 outbound links per article. Contextual relevance and actual page strength matter more than the homepage metrics. A niche edit on a ranking page with real traffic often moves the needle faster than a shiny DR 60 guest post on a dead blog. So yeah, guest posts still work, but only when they’re on real sites with real audiences. Otherwise, I’d rather invest in assets that attract links naturally or secure placements on pages already ranking.

Hey almany2353,Guest posts might still be worth it if you target sites with real traffic.Perhaps moving away from mass produced placements could help the needle move more effectively.Focusing on niche relevance and high engagement signals could potentially offer better stability after the recent updates

Guest posts can still add value, but quality and relevance matter much more than before. I focus on niche-relevant sites and contextually placed links rather than just high DR numbers It’s more about building authority and traffic than chasing metrics.

I still use guest posts but not as heavy, most of their power is gone unless the site is tight to your niche and actually ranks, DR means nothing if traffic is low tier.

I still use guest posts, but only when the site actually has traffic and the page sits in a naturally linked section. DR alone hasn’t meant much for a while. Niche edits often hit harder because they tap into aged authority and existing internal link flow. One mistake I see a lot is buying guest posts on orphaned pages Google barely crawls them, so they move nothing

As far as the relevancy appears there. You may get worthful for years

Yes, it works. Guest posts are still a very important element of any strategy. That will only change if there’s a real revolution in how Google ranks websites.

So I continue placing guest posts at scale. After the recent update, we might not see immediate changes since the bots need time to reassess everything under the new signals. But once they recalibrate, we’ll see the results of our efforts

Guest posting still works, particularly when targeting niche-relevant sites and embedding links within established content that receives steady traffic and engagement. Contextual placement and topical alignment generally produce stronger results than chasing high numbers alone.

The metric most people skip when vetting guest post sites is organic traffic pattern consistency over time. DR can be inflated in a week. Traffic can be faked with CTR tools. But a site that's had stable, growing organic traffic across varied keywords for 12-24 months is genuinely hard to fake, and that's the signal that actually tells you the site has real authority baked in.

The reason niche edits outperform new guest posts in a lot of cases isn't just aged content either. It's that the page hosting the edit has already been evaluated and rewarded by Google. A new guest post on even a strong site starts at zero page-level trust. A niche edit on a page that's been ranking and getting real clicks for two years is a completely different signal. That said I wouldn't drop guest posts entirely, they still do a job for topical relevance and anchor diversity early in a campaign.

In my view they still work pretty well as long as you target the relevant niche websites and have patience. Takes quite some time to build enough of the links and for them to start working. Our first tangible results became visible in about 3 months
