Everything You Need To Know About The Signature Space Rules

I thought being a junior member would be enough to add my signature. I was very excited when my account got the title an hour ago!

Is adding message like "slot available for rent" can be added in signature? Even if the WTS thread is not active for signature space?

When you upgrade your account, you will be able to have a signature. The following will explain how to add a signature to your account as well as the signature rules.

Adding a Signature to Your Account

Hover over your username and click 'Signature' or click this direct link to the signature edit form.

You will be taken to a text editor, where you can either type a text signature or upload a banner.

How to Upload a Banner to Your Signature

Please follow the instructions in our guide titled, "How To Embed Media Images To Your Sales Threads & Thread Edit Requests?".

Signature Rules

The signature rules can be found in our terms of service under rules 5 and 5.1 and 5.2.

These rules exist for the reasons including, but not limited to:
  • keeping sig spaces orderly
  • preventing users from becoming annoyed
  • providing sig users the equal opportunity to have their sigs viewed

Rules for ALL Signatures
  • only upgraded (i.e. paid) members have access to the signature functionality
  • no sound clips may be used
  • no CTAs (call to actions - i.e. buy now, order here, click this, etc)
  • no misleading claims (this follows the Marketplace Content Standards)
  • no copying other people's signatures or banners
  • no profanity or expletives
  • no religious references
  • signatures will only show up 1x per thread
  • signatures may currently contain:
    • outside contact information
    • links to Marketplace Sales Threads
    • links to off forum locations
Banner Signature Rules

Banner signatures:
  • may not be larger than 728x90 pixels.
  • may not contain:
    • nudity or bikinis
    • suggestive images (something that looks phallic, for example)
    • 1 link, linking the banner, may be added
If you would like, GIFs are allowed as a banner. HOWEVER, there are rules that GIF users must abide by:
  • Refresh rate may not be faster than 3 seconds
  • Text can not fly in on the banner (i.e. start off screen then slide onto the screen)
  • No glitch effects
  • No flash effects (i.e. mini raves)
Additionally, anything that violates the forums Terms & Rules is prohibited.

Text Signature Rules

Text signatures:
  • may have up to 3 lines of text
  • font size may be no bigger than 15.5 in size
  • may not excessively use colours
  • may not excessively use smilies or emotes
  • up to 3 links may be added into the text
In our terms of service (see Section 5) we stipulate that signatures shouldn’t be ‘annoying’ - essentially, use colours and smileys sparingly. You could have different colours for each line, but much more than that is hard to read and ultimately looks unprofessional.

Uploading Signature Banner to the Media Section + Media Section Rules

Upgraded members may upload their banner, for use in their signature, in the Media Section of the forum.

The rules for the media section follows Chapter 1, Section 1, Point 12 of the Marketplace Rules.

While all of the rules for media count, specifically advertising, spamming, and/or keyword stuffing in the title, tags or description is strictly prohibited.

Those caught violating the media section rules will receive a warning.

How Often Signatures are Shown on the Forum

Signatures can be viewed in an upgraded member's profile page under About, or in threads. If a user has a signature, it will only be shows on the first post the user makes in the thread.

My signature doesn’t show under my comment
How to go about it?
 
Someone is offering to sell me a spot on their signature to put my info to list my company, can someone confirm this is allowed? I want to make sure this doesn't go against BHW rules.

I know the common rule is only selling in marketplace. Please confirm or reference rule if this is not allowed.
