1st congratulation on making some money, your all ready way ahead of most people especially at your age.

2nd (lets just say that he pays the money through paypal, and it looks like he will with the prepaid card) What are you going to do with the money? You cant buy anything physical. If you think a letter from a stranger would be hard to explain how are you going to explain a flat screen TV or PlayStation 3 or new iPhone?

I think your going to have to tell your parents (or find a porn site that accept PayPal). If you don't and you start getting new expensive items they wont think 'oh, our son must be doing some SEO for a local business' it will be more along the lines of selling drugs or some weird shit like that. Your going to have to tell them some time, mite as well do it now and get it over and done with.

(P.S. Im 16 and my parents are cool with me doing marketing, they just wont let me walk into business and talk to the owner but i think thats pretty fair) I think your parents will be cool with it but your the one who knows them best. Good luck.

Suggestion #1 - Grow some balls.

Tell you parents what you are doing. Honestly, honesty is the best policy. Think if something happens to them tomorrow or something. How are you going to feel knowing that you lied to them over something you should have been proud of for the rest of your life?

Kids these days don't think about anything. Really, all you have to do is tell your parents that you have started an advertising business online. You are not scamming anyone, or anything like that. You are offering a legit advertising service.

If they do not approve move out on your own/keep hiding it. Those are your options.

Well my parents know about my web design, logo design, web hosting, and SEO services, they just don't know I'm contacting people through Craigslist and their only idea about Craigslist is the Craigslist Murderer from our region of the US that murdered a woman a year and a half ago. Trust me, they are absolutely brain dead that you can make money online legitimately. My dad owns a retail business (an offline one) and I do online stuff with him like his email marketing campaigns and such.

I won a competition for an old site called ProTrade (sports stock market). It was a fun site, just did it for fun. They had weekly competitions and I won an NBA competition and won $40. My mom wouldn't let me cash the check (was before I could drive). W-T-F?

also: if your parents are psycho, tell him to get a visa giftcard of the amount he owes you and pay you with that through a google checkout account or paypal (g checkout much better imo, they dont hold funds for gay shit usually, it's essentially a merchant account). they are sold at any CVS/supermarket usually

I've tried to talk to him hexalor LIKE A TRUE ADULT, but to be quite honest, he doesn't seem to have the intentions to pay me and we won't have future negotiations if he doesn't pay me so the best thing to do is threaten to kill his website if he doesn't pay. This kind of shit works in an online business (I would not try it in an offline business). I gave him results - I gave him REAL results. And hex, your situation when you were 16 is very different. I am a highly successful student poised to go off to a great engineering university. My parents have put in a lot of effort and raised me with good values and do not want to see my go awry into the "supposedly" shady business of making money online. And if you don't think the rest of the world thinks what internet marketers do is shady, then you are blind as a bat. You can thank GPT companies for supplying the shady, misunderstood stereotype of "make money online".

Trust me - my mom has fallen brainwashed to "the system". My dad, although he has his own business, has very little idea of innovation and in this way, he is a little brainwashed. He runs his business still with the traditional values that my grandfather ran the business back in the 50s and 60s.

My mom highly believes the only way one can be successful in life is by going to school, studying hard, getting a bachelors degree, getting a masters degree, and then getting a job. If I feel comfortable doing so, I can tell her how I want to live my life when I'm out there in the world on my own. But I can't disrespect her now. I love her too much and she's done a lot for me.
