Should companies move away from AWS?

As you maybe aware there was an AWS outage yesterday. What's the solution to stop this from happening again and should companies find a better alternative?

Issues can happen anywhere, from small to huge companies. I doubt there is something better than AWS services right now on the market.

No one can form no calculation concerning the laws of hazard. It's simply happen. Most of the time, human mistake is into play.

hybrid approach is better to host the tech stack but the things happened at the aws yesterday can happened with any tech based company.

Problems can occur in any company, big or small. Still, AWS remains one of the most reliable options available today.

it is not that they should move away from aws. other dc will have issues on occassion too. the best but unlikely thing would be to cut into some of the profits and have a backup in place from a second source but the cost just isn't worth the reward even with downtime for bigger enterprises like netflix since uptime is still 99%+

Not for now. If this problem keeps happening more times in the coming months it would be surprisingly...and then, you should move on to find a better alternative. For now, it's an isolated event, nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, but not for reasons of outage. As everyone says, it can happen anywhere. Besides, this isn't the first time it's happened. And it's also happened a few times to META platforms.

Now, there are other reasons why some companies could or perhaps should avoid Amazon. For example, sovereignty, data protection, privacy, trust, etc.

But hey, that's often easier said than done, since unless you're able to physically manage your own servers, it means trusting an AWS's competitor.

AWS is just too powerful. Also, it's not like other cloud providers are immune to outages.
