If you’ve been on this site for more than five minutes, you might have noticed that BlackHatWorld is massive. The forum gets thousands of posts every day, from users across the globe, so it literally never sleeps. Your first few visits can be pretty intimidating, so where should you start?

First things first. We have rules. They are very simple, but make sure you know them or you could find yourself getting slapped down without realising you’ve done anything wrong.

Read the rules.

Have you read them? Come on, at least familiarise yourself with this summary of the rules. This stuff is important.

Ok, so how do you go about finding anything in this huge community? Although the forum is vast, it’s made up of lots of small chunks, and as long as you know what you’re looking for (even roughly) you will be fine.

Let’s break it down. There’s a menu across the top of the site. You won’t need most of these options while you’re finding your feet, but the Forums button is essential.

This shows you all of the different sub-categories within each part of the website so you can start reading around on the topics that interest you.

Down the left-hand side of the site, you’ll notice five sections:

Main Menu This is where the conversations happen and it’s where you will need to spend 60 days communicating with other members if you want to access the Marketplace.

Marketplace This is where you will eventually be able to buy and sell products, services and packages. While you’re a newbie, have a read around and see what kind of things are on offer and what we allow in Marketplace threads.

Making Money That’s what we’re all here for, right? Apart from meeting awesome, like-minded people, obvs. Make sure you’ve read those rules before you start stumbling about in these threads.

Other This snazzily titled section is your go-to spot for, well, anything that doesn’t fit into the above. (We all know what Other means, right?)

How do I unlock messaging to other members? Is it by posting or is it just time?

If you have a post count of less than 15 on the forum, you will not be able to start a direct message with other members.

You should, however, be able to receive direct messages (sometimes referred to as PMs/DMs/Conversations) and respond to them.

Please do not spam short, low-quality posts on the forum in an attempt to build your way to 15 posts quickly.

This is against our terms and you will be given a warning for doing this.

Okay, thanks. I only read all the newbie threads after asking this.

I see others can message me (some already have from threads I commented on) Is there a time limit to how soon I can send follow up responses? E.g. Someone messaged me, I responded and then wanted to add something but it said I had to wait before sending a second message. Curious how that works if you know.

The warning you saw (you have to wait before sending a second message) may be because of internal rate-limits or anti-spam measures.

New members (fewer posts) have more restrictions across the board (messaging, posting).

So if you get a warning or delay, it's likely just the system making sure things stay within the rules.
 
I am a bit confused, where can I read information about what I need to do to become a member? I have found many useful contacts here and I would also like to post my services here. What do I need to do to do this? Can you verify me on other forums to make sure I am a legitimate user?

We offer 3 membership types:

Premium: Grants you access to additional features but does not allow you to sell in the Marketplace.

Jr VIP (60 day old account + 100 quality posts) and Marketplace Seller: Both allow you to create Marketplace sales threads and conduct business once approved.

To open a sales thread, you first need to upgrade your account to either Jr VIP or Marketplace Seller.

After our Marketplace team reviews and approves your service, you'll then pay a $30 annual listing fee for your thread.

If you later need to edit your thread, there's a $30 thread edit fee, and if a retest is required (for example, after major service changes), an additional $30 applies.

Seems like a great forum from the way it’s organized and how it treats new users. Hopefully, as a new user as well, I can learn new things as I spend time on this forum.
