Why can’t I start a direct message?

2.0 Update!

If you want to start a direct message, you need to have at least 15 posts, otherwise you will not see the option to start a new direct message. Make sure your posts are good quality and do not make short, spammy or low-quality posts just to boost your post count - these posts will be deleted and your account may be banned.

When you reach 15 posts, you will see a yellow button appear at the top of your inbox with "Start Direct Message" - this allows you to send a message to another member.

You will also see the option to 'Start direct message' in the pop up window when you click on another user's name.

Do not start direct messages promoting your site or services or asking for things - this is against the rules and may lead to your account being banned.

thats what i ended up doing and got ahold of him, i havent been on this forum in probably 8 yrs, i had to make a new account cuz i forgot my old account info. i used to live on here practically. forgot about the noobie restrictions lol. thanks again.

maybe they can find your old account for you? ive been around for a long time though and it seems like some of my posts got deleted from several years ogo.. i dunno... but worth a shot!

You can reply to PMs, but you won't be able to start any conversations via PM until you have reached 15 posts.

Depends. Certain sections here do not contribute to post count, for example the lounge posts don't count as post.
15 posts are pretty easy to get really lol. Just take part in the discussions. If you have an solution, post! If you have a problem, post!

I'm afraid not! You can post on the seller's thread and ask them to message you instead, then you will be able to reply.

Just post in their sales thread and they can respond to you via the messaging system - you can receive them, you just can't send them.

Glad i saw this! My account is 6 years old and i was afraid i got some type of restriction due to not posting for a while.
