Sig rental rules need to be changed

A few months ago I promoted a Telegram link on my signature space, it lasted 24h, the member was banned one day after paying me for a month of signature promotion, I was lucky, it was probably a scammer.

Now I'm refusing any kind of partnership with members who proposes a telegram channel or a telegram link in my signature space. Unfortunately scammers are abusing this feature and sometimes we are greedy and accept it without thinking in the consequences, do your own diligence, it's better to wait another week until someone serious appears with a better offer than accepeting a deal with a potential scammer.

About this thread idea, it would be better to not allow Telegram links on signature space to prevent this issue. The whole end of signature space renting like suggested above is not necessary, it would affect lots of honest people, the vast majority of signature space rentals are honest deals promoting solid, reliable and trustworthy services - just prohibit Telegram links (or other similar social media).

Presenting the mandatory contrarian view although I'm in partial agreement with your logic too.

If people who rent signatures aren't held responsible to any extent there's a potential (it has happened on this forum) that a lot of scammers will leverage this loophole and abuse their signature rental space to advertise their own shady rugpull services (it's not really hard to compartmentalize your BHW account and your scam service with basic OpSec so that the two cannot be linked together) knowing full well they have the option of plausible deniability and they will not be held responsible, atleast not their BHW account.

The better alternative would be to totally prohibit the renting of signature spaces. Yes, I know this signature renting feature is there to incentivise more people to purchase Jr. VIP (first thing most people buying Jr. VIP do is try to recover the cost of their subscription and without launching a service thread, sig spaces are their only reliable means to do that) but it's the necessary evil it seems since there's no way to arrive at a definite set of rules regarding signature renting.

That also gives rise to the issue of general advertisements on this forum too.

This is why I proposed to create clear rules.

If mods have approved a BST, then we shouldn't be held accountable at that point because the mods themselves have verified that the service works.

If they don't have a sales thread, we should be taking the risks and responsibilities that come along with that, and at that point, they should be able to hold us accountable.

It shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

I think the forum is wrong on this, because you dont blame the tv channel for advertising substandard or even scammy stuff. I dont think youd win a lawsuit.

On the other hand, if the forum wants to reduce advertising scams and so on, its fair to people and within the rights of the forum.

But the forum cant be vague about it. Asking people to use their common sense? Pfff haha. And on top of that ask them to use their common sense when theyre being offered money? Where's your common sense?

Clear rules about it makes everyone happy. Websites, BSTs, no telegrams/whatsapps, whatever it may be.

TV ads do not have a link to a product or service, signatures do so that is inventory and not an ad per se, it's a sales pitch.

Some of you may not have ever been in the retail business but I was raised in the retail world as my Father owned a retail business and I started working there when I was 10 years old.

I was over paid at 1.00 a day but I learned that world.

He sold products and if they were defective, he took them back and refunded the customer. Sometimes he was able to send it back to the company he bought it from, and sometimes he had to eat the loss, but he was responsible for what we put in the bag the customer carried out.

The same applies here.

If you are going to have a clickable link to a service or product that is defective, you have to take care of the person who bought via your link and deal with the person who is paying you for that clickable link.

That's common sense.

The rule is not going to change.

How one can sell their signature, or anything else, and not stand behind it is bad business ethics.
