Sig rental rules need to be changed

Hi

I'm not sure when this rule was implemented to penalize members for renting out their signature spaces to others (when they can't deliver), but I don't think it's been in place for long. I do not remember this been the case a couple of years ago as even the mods rented their sig spaces out.

Now, if something goes south we have to take the responsibility.

I used to rent my signature to a proxy provider; their term ended, and there were no issues. However, if someone complained about the speed or other issues, would I be the one who should pay those funds out?

BHW has also banners on their site, if someone complains that they found the service thanks to the advertisements you sell, are you then paying the funds out of your own pocket?

BHW approves scammers' sales thread all the time... when someone complains you are not paying anyone out of your own pocket... so how are we suddenly supposed to take the responsibility for third-party services while you are not willing to do it?

The rule needs to be changed so that everyone can advertise services that are approved by BHW mod team (have an active sales thread)

Or their own services, their blogs, their personal things whatever those are but not third-party services.

How are you going to put a blame on us like that when you are never willing to take any yourself?

I don't think this is right, and I have only recently seen this happening.

I need to close my sig space rental offer now because, should I rent it out even to a legit member who might run into issues after a couple of months, I am not going to cover possibly thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. Just like you don't cover for anything the scammers are selling here.

basically bhw is evolving , I used to rent out my sig space too but it seems that the renting out thing is gone due to new policies .

BTW renting out the sig spaces pays for yearly JR vip for sellers which is much beneficial
 
In a nutshell, you guys should be doing your own version of KYC. While you're not going to be asking for someone's ID, you could:

- ask questions about what they're selling
- do it via DM and not off site
- use common sense with who wants to buy a sig

At the end of the day, don't just go and sell your sig to some total unknown account and you should be perfectly fine.

There needs to be clear and specific rules on this, not something that is created only when an incident happens.

All services are different.

Am I at fault when I rent my sign to an Executive member, and their proxy service/speed is going down?
 
In the dispute resolution thread that prompted you to open this thread, not only was the person selling substandard produce through their banner, but they were also posting on the forum on their behalf.

Additionally, the rental of their banner began with a random TG discussion started by the person who rented the banner.

@INCC just use your common sense on whom you do business with and you should be fine.

I know you will argue for this point as your ego is always high on this forum due to your post count but I ain't got time for that.

No dispute thread prompted me to do anything. I have talked about this matter since last week, privately with the staff via the support desk.
 
In general I agree with that, we should implement a clear rule about it.

Possibly only allow signature space redirecting to websites, BHW BSTs or BHW chat (with upgraded members). If the service is not serious enough to create a website or a landing page, it's hard to expect a positive experience from that. Or at least a BHW sales thread.

Do not allow Telegram/Whatsapp/Discord or whatever social links on signature space, what do you guys think?

Because if they only have a discord and tg then evidently they aren't serious which calls into question their ability to deliver their product/service.

Just hearing of this for the first time. It's indeed very weird and unusual to hold signature owners responsible for whatever service the buyer gets. It's not done anywhere else even in the real world.

It is though.

If I go to a retail store, and the product they are selling is bad, it is on the retailer to fix it.

Yea, but a retail store is the seller not an advertisement platform. The appropriate equivalent in the real world is a TV ad. You don't hold the TV responsible for the loses customers acrued.

Your signature sells.

It's not just advertising as it links to a product or service.
 
Presenting the mandatory contrarian view although I'm in partial agreement with your logic too.

If people who rent signatures aren't held responsible to any extent there's a potential (it has happened on this forum) that a lot of scammers will leverage this loophole and abuse their signature rental space to advertise their own shady rugpull services (it's not really hard to compartmentalize your BHW account and your scam service with basic OpSec so that the two cannot be linked together) knowing full well they have the option of plausible deniability and they will not be held responsible, atleast not their BHW account.

The better alternative would be to totally prohibit the renting of signature spaces. Yes, I know this signature renting feature is there to incentivise more people to purchase Jr. VIP (first thing most people buying Jr. VIP do is try to recover the cost of their subscription and without launching a service thread, sig spaces are their only reliable means to do that) but it's the necessary evil it seems since there's no way to arrive at a definite set of rules regarding signature renting.

That also gives rise to the issue of general advertisements on this forum too.

Just my 2 cents.
