If you have loads of items up for s**e, say several hundred, do you constantly need to check with your retailers if all items are in stock? How do you keep track of what's in stock and what's not? How do you keep your list of items updated with correct (latest) stock info?

I'm sure you can find another retailer selling for a similar price that the other retailer was before they went out of stock.

This all sounds quite interesting.. Im not too worried about outlaying the initial investment for products while waiting for amazon to pay, but on AUK i can only see the following statement.
"Amazon first settles your account 14 days after you register. Subsequently, the payment process repeats every 14 days. It normally takes five business days from the payment date until the money is available in your bank account"
meaning a possible wait of upto 19days to receive the money owing.. Its gonna take a big wedge to scale this up big time having to wait that long.
Unless im missing something?
Also another problem i can see is returns ! once you start shifting a lot of products you gonna start getting more returns, which could start becoming a real pain in the ass.

A step in the right direction, but you still need to have a bank account in either US, UK, France, Germany or Austria. Those of course are the countries which have their own Amazon sites, but I'd really like to know their excuse for excluding the rest of the EU countries. Can't be the added hassle of bank transfers, since they are so hassle-free and fast within the EU.
It's no walk in the park to get a bank account (and a credit card which Amazon also requires) in those european countries if you live somewhere else - Germany I think requires you to live in the country before you're eligible, and for others I'd imagine you'd have to at least be physically present to apply.

hey guys, thought i would give yall an update.
so far i've made $54 but it has been hard. whenever i find a product that has a good profit margin, its not long (48 hours or less) before the low price bandits show up, go through my storefront and steal all my items and i wind up in a price war on everything. yarrr!!!
if i don't continually lower prices the bandits eat up all my sales and eventually i have to delete the listing because its at the break even point.
i don't have any rating yet so its hard for me to win over someone, for example, who's pricing something for 19.98 (and they have 4,000 99% positive reviews) when i'm pricing it for 19.99. they keep undercutting me by a penny
now that i've got around 250 items, its quite a chore to keep up. i think maybe they are using programs or something that automatically reprice their inventory.
some of these guys are really big fish, and make a ton of money. i saw one with 105,415 reviews. if he made just $5 (he most likely makes more) a sale thats around $527,000! he can afford to pay for repricing programs, or hire someone to do it.
i hope this information is useful, sorry if it sounds like a rant. the conclusion i've drawn is that in order to make sales at a higher price than the bandits, you have to have thousands of good reviews. its kind of a chicken and the egg problem.

I have a newbie question, my account is new will people still pay over the lowest amaount if have no feed back or ratings, etc. Are people that stupid really or will I need an account with a lot of good feedback?
I've done some nice book and video sales on Amazon.
Copywriting books did well for me. I found some at "Half Price Books" stores. As an example a George Haylings book I sold for $100, a Eugene Schwartz for near that.
Also, some NLP books are good.Another are DVDs of Russian Systema Martial Arts by Vladimir Vasiliev. Scott Sonnon DVDs do well also.Another are Carlos Castenada DVDs called "Tensegrity". The best was the Systema. I got many requests from Amazon asking if I had more copies. I could have sold 20+
Look at some of the online rare book stores to get an idea on pricing.
I've lots of high cost marketing/copywriting courses too but, they were not in Amazon's data base.
Craigslist has worked well for some hardgoods in the past.
Things from alternative medicine did well like water ozonators,filters,air purifiers.
with job loses and high gas prices you might do well on Amazon with stuff related to Bicycles. LOTS of traffic on that also, kits to make your bicycle electric with hub motors from ...you guessed it China
I gave up though selling stuff under $20 as the time to pack it up, print labels, take it to the UPS or USPS is worth something.
Some are making a killing shipping cds and dvds as the packing is tiny, costs pennies and shipping cost is low.
I'm looking to do some Kindle Books if anyone had tips for that it would be great.
With the release of Amazon's $139 new Kindle I suspect that is going to be IN-FN-SANE for the Holiday selling season.
Off topic, rumour has it iPhone might be going to allow T-Mobile! AT&T is soooooo much crap if Apple would just get a decent service Jobs would be Sainted, Made King and Obama would probably want to have his baby

So, I found the exact niche I want to start selling in, and I've already set up my account and linked it to my bank account.
The niche is a profitable one by far, and I can't wait to get started.
However, I know it takes 14 days to get bank info through, but is that when I can request payment on the same day?
If someone would let me know, that'd be great!
Also, when ordering from other places to send to my customers, what should I request they do with the package? Not put an invoice in it?

You wait 14 days so you can REQUEST it every day but that doesn't mean you will have the money in your bank account that day. It usually takes 2-3 days for the bank to be updated and have that money.
Just say it's a gift. Usually there is an option to gift wrap it or whatever with no extra charge.
Good luck getting started, IMO this method is bullshit and I have seen no results.
