Where do humans get new knowledge, and how do they discover it?
they have inspiration mechanisms that (I believe, but I can't prove) are embedded into our psyche (into the subconscious more precisely), but I don't know more as it's an elusive topic for me...
Do you really believe that AI can't learn to do the same?
I do! Or rather, I feel like this is true, but - once again - I can't prove it since I'm not knowledgeable enough on how the AI works besides being manually stuffed with knowledge by humans, and adjusted / improved (once again, manually) by people.
If you leave the AI on its own - despite of how perfect it might seem at the moment - I think it will be surpassed in knowledge in a few years (in less than a decade I would wager) by the new generation of people who get born with improved knowledge...
Is it reasonable to assume that AI will always rely solely on human input to gain new insights?
100%
AI isn't just parroting back what humans have already created, it's also learning how humans uncover new knowledge in the first place. It's studying the patterns, methods, and leaps of intuition that lead to discovery. And once it understands that process, who’s to say it won’t innovate on its own?
you're giving too much credit to the AI, man! The AI is just a dumb machine full of data and integrated circuits, unplug it from the internet / other data networks and it can't do shit anymore. Its validity (or "life" if you prefer to "humanize" the iron) is valid only within the wires, in real life AI can't live (duh!), can't improve itself, can't recognize that it's not human and has no soul, it can't recognize that it's inferior, it can't even discern what is good vs what is bad (unless people program it to "know" that thing and make it mimic human affections, sentiments, emotions, etc).
Which, by the way, the AI doesn't have any of these, simply because - despite of its name - the AI has no intelligence and the emotions / feelings / affections are always connected to the intelligence, whatever this is...
Anyway, I agree with your point that SEO is dead, but I don't agree that the AI will ever surpass human knowledge or that it can ever have a life on its own.... Ok, within the circuitry and wires and data centers, etc probably that AI is supreme, but it can't evolve like humans can. The human brain is truly the superior (and probably ultimate) organ in the Universe, it's us - the humans - who have created the AI, not the other way around. And pull the plug and the AI is just ewaste
