How Do You Actually Make Money from a Blog?

My clients typically use a blog to build their email list, and then monetize it to the tune of 5... 6... 7 figures selling digital products/courses/coaching.

You can make money from a blog through affiliate marketing, ad networks, selling digital products or courses, sponsored posts, and building an email list or membership program.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running a blog for a while now, and I want to figure out the best ways to actually make money from it. I know there are a ton of methods out there, but I’d love to hear from people who have real experience.

What’s been working for you?
Affiliate marketing?
Ad networks like AdSense, Ezoic, or Mediavine?
Selling digital products or courses?
Sponsored posts?
Something else I haven’t thought of?

I’d appreciate any insights, success stories, or even mistakes to avoid. Let’s keep it real—what actually makes consistent money?

Looking forward to your thoughts!
Affiliate marketing and ad networks like AdSense or Ezoic work well, but it depends on your traffic. Some people also make good money selling digital products or doing sponsored posts. It’s best to test different methods and see what works for your blog

affiliate marketing, display ads, and selling digital products or courses. often work well together, with affiliate marketing and ads providing steady income, while digital products or courses can generate higher revenue per sale

I have seen many people started their Vlog and Blog and starting selling products or review on the blog theirself.

How do I balance long-tail keywords and user intent in my blog posts to ensure they rank on Google while genuinely helping UAE-based job seekers?

Monetizing a blog depends on traffic and niche, but affiliate marketing, ad networks like Ezoic/Mediavine, and selling digital products tend to work best for consistent income. Sponsored posts can help, but they require a strong brand. Diversifying income streams is key—combine multiple methods for the best results

I’ve seen affiliate marketing and ad networks like Ezoic or Mediavine work well if you have steady traffic. Selling digital products or courses can be a game changer too. Sponsored posts can help, but they’re not always consistent. What’s your blog about?

I would have said Adsense but Its been long I use it so I can’t say much but I’m sure there are other ways to go about it.

In my opinion, Affiliate Marketing is the best way to make money from a blog.

I wanted to share my experience since I’ve gone through a similar journey. Earning money from a blog is definitely possible, but it takes patience, strategy, and high quality content.
  1. Affiliate Marketing:
Right now, this is my most consistent source of income. Promoting niche products and targeting the right keywords is essential. It makes sense to work with programs like Amazon, Impact, or private partner networks. The key is to write as if you’ve actually tested the products otherwise, you risk losing your readers’ trust.
  2. Ad Networks:
I started with AdSense, but the earnings were very low. After switching to Ezoic, my ad revenue increased by 70%. Once your traffic reaches a certain threshold (like 50K+ monthly visitors), joining networks like these becomes much more worthwhile.
  3. Digital Products / E-books:
I wrote an e book focused on a niche topic. It brought in some passive income, but not as much as I expected because I didn’t dedicate enough time to promotion. If you have an email list and have built a connection with your audience, this can have great potential.
  4. Sponsored Content:
Working directly with brands can generate higher income, but staying authentic with your audience can be challenging. Not accepting every offer pays off in the long run.
  5. Email List - Community:
In my opinion, building an email list is essential for long-term success. Creating a loyal following boosts both trust and sales.

Important Things to Keep in Mind:
  • Don’t underestimate SEO. More traffic = more revenue.
  • Staying focused on a niche brings faster results.
  • You should develop a separate strategy for each income stream. Trying to do everything at once can be overwhelming.

Affiliate marketing and ad networks like Ezoic and Mediavine are popular and effective for many bloggers. Selling digital products or courses can be highly profitable if you have a strong niche. Sponsored posts are also a good revenue stream once you build authority. The key is consistency—experiment with different methods and track what works best for your audience.

AdSense and Mediavine work fine, but the real money is in selling your own digital products or courses.
