Is Google Killing SEO?

I've been around in the SEO game for a little while now, and it's never been so bad. Google is pushing AI answers, prioritizing the big brands and leaving the smaller websites with hardly any opportunity to rank. It's clear they don't care about the smaller websites succeeding - unless they're willing to pay for ads.

Do you recall when on-page SEO and link-building were enough? Nowadays, even with great content and good links, rankings shift overnight. It's as if Google is silently shutting the door to organic traffic.

So what's the game now? Are we witnessing the gradual death of SEO, or is there still a way to outwit the system?

I feel your frustration, Google’s changes have definitely made it tougher for smaller sites. While it may seem like organic traffic is harder to get, quality content, user experience, and E-E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) still play a major role. It’s all about adapting – maybe consider exploring niche SEO, local SEO, and community-building strategies. SEO isn't dead, it’s just evolving!

It’s actually changed in a good way for my buddies and networks. They have ecommerce review sites and are ranking on page 1 of Google for product keywords above the fold with major brands.

It just depends on how you adapt. Some niches may be harder to rank for now as they get affected by the AI response which doesn’t require a click to the sites.

I agree. Platforms everywhere are tightening up. Cold mail deliverability is worse, ESPs are flagging accounts faster, and inbox rates keep dropping.

Any tactics still working for bulk mailers in 2025?

is being difficult, seo still not dead but is difficult to get something because there is someone that crush you but is not imposible to get something the problem is to always try something different used to be simple but now requires more work and administration.

Agree. Things are much harder than before. Their systems become smarter every day.

I remember when in 2012 I could get $5,000 for every $500 invested in SEO. Today, it takes $5,000 to make $5,500.

I appriciate you. SEO is no longer as easy as it used to be because Google prioritize AI, Big Brand and paid Ads. However, there is still opportunity like user intent focus, EEAT, Long tail keyword and increasing source authority. SEO is not dead, but new strategies are needed.

SEO is definitely evolving. While it’s harder for smaller sites, focusing on UX, building authority, and diversifying traffic sources can still make a difference.

thats why spam works. you dont focus on 1 site, you create multiple and keep creating new ones. if you just focus on 1 site and 1 niche, yes its much harder than it used to be to stay on top.
but thats also because the SERPs are not static, they always shift.. just think of that not only you are trying to be on #1, but your competitors too, so they also work and thats why the serps tend to shift.
create more sites and rank them, so if one drops, you have many more that still drive traffic. if some die, let them expire and get more to build up. rinse and repeat. its always been like that and it still works.

I can say yes - it is killed. What I mean - it is no chance for a new websites - latest algo only prefers old and strong sites grown by natural way in a long period of time.

We've always needed to adapt.
That hasn't changed a bit.
