Why I Plan to Play the SEO Long Game

I have gone from being a Wordpress developer to a website flipper in 10 years. I have NEVER been interested in playing the SEO long game. I never held on to any properties long enough to entertain the idea.

But I have always been a learner. I have always followed SEO, taken classes, studied the landscape, and helped others set up their seo strategies. I, myself have never committed to such works because I never invested in my own property until NOW.

What I do know is that SEO is a long game played by many. It's also a long game that most people aren't very good at. I consider myself GOOD based on the results I have delivered for others. But under these circumstances, I want to be GREAT.

Before I fully take this commitment I had to sit down and make an educated list on why SEO is and will be beneficial for my upcoming audio blog project, for which I might include the development process in the journey forum. I don't want to stat something and not finish, especially if people are following.

I want to have a clear understanding of WHAT I am getting into so that I know how to approach things moving forward.

Everybody wants fast money, quick wins, and instant traffic, but let’s be real—if you ain’t got a budget to throw at ads every month, or if you’re tired of fighting social media algorithms, the reality is YOU NEED TO BE PLAYING THE SEO LONG GAME.

This is the conversation I have been having with myself.
I needed at least 6 benefits of SEO and why I need to dedicate at minimum 6 months to a strategy. I guess this is my way of hyping myself up before game time.

Here is what I came up with-​

• Organic traffic is monetarily free.

When I say monetarily, I mean there is no money needed to obtain organic traffic. But I will be spending my time growing that traffic, which means I will be INVESTING my time. And since my time is much more valuable than money, I won't be wasting it.

• Passive Income on Autopilot

Once I build the framework and get the backend of things together, I expect the autopilot switch to switch on. The goal is to work hard to not have to work at all.

• SEO traffic is high-intent

People don’t search for random stuff for no reason. Well, sometimes they do. But for the sake of this conversation, we are talking about search intent. If someone lands on my site from Google, it’s because they actively searched for something I’m offering. Everything I do moving forward with my property will be INTENTIONAL. Nothing will go on my site unless it offers some form of ROI.

• SEO is an Asset, Not an Expense

I think people fail to realize that your website is a digital asset. You own it. You control it. It appreciates. If you build it right, you can even sell it for a check later. Unlike ads, where your money is gone the second you stop paying, along with your traffic; SEO work sticks around.

• SEO Has a Compound Effect

This is the part nobody tells you—every piece of content you optimize makes your whole site stronger. One blog post ranks, then another, then another, and before you know it, your entire website has that Google juice (whoever came up with that phrase, I swear ). It starts slow, but when it picks up, it snowballs hard. And like I stated above, nothing will go on my site unless it has the potential to offer an ROI.

• Bonus Benefit-​

Seo teaches you patience. It teaches you that life isn't always about instant gratification. Sometimes good things come to those who put in the work and wait.

My journey is going to be a little different because I am done with the regular " smegular" blogs. Basic blogging is beneath me and I refuse to go and build another content dump that nobody is going to READ. Why? because the content landscape and the way people consume it have CHANGED!

Somewhere along the way I have to remind myself that I am chasing a goal. I am looking to reach a result. Am I going to attain my goals, OF COURSE, I AM. I wouldn't think any other way. Losers doubt themselves. I have never and never will I be considered a LOSER.

So here I am. Hyped up. Ready to do the work.

you are right, testing adding, is not a race is about consistency, people think that any method and AI will do magic and spamming could work but won't be always and time and investments will be more than returns, site I being working, is being doing good, no rushing working smart and trying to bring more people not millions but still decen traffic that allow me to work.

The key phrase you stated was “NOT MILLIONS”. Exactly right. We don’t need millions of visitors. We need the right types of visitors. I can have a million visitors and no sales vs 10,000 with a 1,000 sales and be successful. Spamming does what?I think spamming can and should be used as an illusion but mixed with real actual work if that makes sense.

I've been also doing SEO the long game. Creating content and sharing, there are seasons where my SEO traffic goes up and I position some notes, and then it goes down.
Seems like I need to focus to create content based on keywords and not from news.

For my e-com store, I’ve been running ads and creating quality content on YouTube and Instagram, but I haven’t been investing time in blogs. After reading your threads, I agree that SEO is a long-term strategy. Since I’m already steadily building a following on social media, why not also work on SEO.

Thats the thing I am working to prepare myself for and that is the up and down season. I think these seasons are unavoidable.
