#1 on Big G!

Hi guys

I never posted a thread on here but I just couldn't help but write about my very small achievement.

I started an autoblog with wp-robot several months ago in an attempt to build a "successful internet business"

With a very little knowledge in search engine optimization I somehow made myself to believe that this little autoblog was going to generate a substantial amount of income for me without putting in any effort

But because of school and other other random things happening in life I never had time and focus to take care of the website.

But just a month or two ago I got curious how my little autoblog was doing...and as you suspected it was doing jack sh*t

I was getting no traffic at all, and even if I did manage to get one or two uv a day it didn't convert at all

Because I had some spare time in my hand I was encouraged to transform this piece of sh*t into something.

So I read some seo related threads on here and followed instructions.

I first changed the template to something more appealing and user friendly, then focused on on-site seo.(meta tags, meta description, alt description, robots.txt, sitemap, cache, and etc)

For the offsite seo I used onlywire social bookmarking, profile linking, and blog commenting for backlinks.

It's been almost a month since the makeover and I checked my website rank for the keyword I was targeting for.

When I got the result back I couldn't believe I was ranking number 1 on google!
It is only for exact search and the search volume is very small, nevertheless it got me all excited!

I never really aimed for number 1 but this encouraged me to set new goals for this website.

I am going to continue on building backlinks and see where it goes

i notice a trend on BHW recently, a lot of people with either less then 10 posts, or people who joined not even a month ago come and say they did this or that:

Examples:
i hit #1 on Google
i got 320,000 visitors to my site
i make $900 a day and need help scaling up

the posts may be true, but more likely is they are trying to entice people to PM them and then pull a fast one.

This may be very true, but hey, if he did pull this off, congrats and keep working on doing the same with more sites.

does this really happen? My site went to #1 today but when i used a proxy it was still number 8 so i guess there is some truth to that

Diff country will display diff result...... even in same country bcoz of diff data center... keep working you can come to 1st rank

hey guys,
just to clarify some issues here
i checked the rank today and its ranked 1 on phrase position according to market samurai rank tracker
also the targeted keyword has a very small search volume with seo value close to zero
I know its pointless to target a keyword with virtually no search volume but this just got me so motivated to to target other keywords with substantial search volume in my niche.

I've made this mistake many times in the past.. so I always check my SERP on multiple PCs with different browsers.

Keep it up.. i know its a great achievement to rank 1 in G, but as you know money always matter that's why we are in IM.
