Any mass link building (over and beyond recommended), some part of Programmatic SEO, cloaking, stuffing etc.

Overall doing anything that's not ethical is termed blackhat, spamming s**t out of G and making money for instant gains.

Black hat SEO in essence is SEO that is knowingly carrying out SEO actions that are against Google's guidelines.

Apart from the negative connotations it may have to some brands / businesses, its also where a lot of innovation and discoveries are realized on how Googles algorithms work.

If you want quick wins but dont care about long term foundations, BH SEO is the way to go.

If you want to build a long lasting brand / company then white / grey hat is the way to go.


I would argue that for learning, Black hat seo is much better as by its very nature it means you end to try things out and experiment. Its where pioneering tactics come from.
