Hello guys!

I need your advice on what to start as a side project.

I work as a Fullstack Software developer, which doesn't make me that bad of a living (but I don't have a huge fortune), so I've been wondering for a long time what kind of side hustle I could do to earn some extra money (not necessarily a lot, I'd be happy with any small success at first).

I've had a lot of ideas running through my head, the internet is full of guides, courses, videos, but in real life, somehow nothing works the way I imagine it.
  • A good app idea - There really isn't a problem that hasn't been solved, that doesn't already have an app for, and if it does, it takes a lot of capital to make it happen.
  • AI content creation - There is already a solution for this, for about $30 a month, it would be difficult to compete with it
  • Social Account Bot - This is difficult to implement, as you can buy accounts with a large number of followers for just a few dollars, it is not worth building channels automatically, you cannot monetize it well afterwards
  • Dropshipping - This might not be a bad idea, many people say that its time has passed, many say that it is worth starting (what is your opinion on this?)
  • Scraper Bot - The data is probably useful to someone, but it is also difficult to monetize, it can only reach a very narrow group
  • Affiliate marketing - This is a pretty broad topic, anyone have any good experience with this?
  • Any other good idea that you have experience with, or would you recommend?

I could invest about $1000 a month, which is not too much, but it could be enough for something (I live in Eastern Europe)

What do you think is worth starting, I would be interested in all ideas, what are the experiences in 2024?

Thank you in advance!

Build your brand through social media. Yes, I know in the dev area it's kinda hard to create content, but there are people that are doing it.

For every point you listed, there's something that doesn't work, if you find a solution to that, you can make big bucks.

Also, the blockchain development technology is kinda trending right now. Start making connections on twitter and if you are good with the skill, people are looking to hire.

I would advise trying a combination of MVP's just to see what works. There are a lot of people selling API access making good money

Here is a thread that could give you some ideas maybe.

I really appreciate your reply, definitely gonna try build my brand. I just have to figure out a good solution
As for the Blockchain I know it's very popular nowadays but my skills are limited on that field.

Thank you, I really appreciate your advice. Selling API access seems a really interesting idea, definitely worth a try

Write posts on the forum and you will be able to open a thread in sections Hire a freelancer or Joint Venture. You should browse these sections, and also WTB. You will find there what people need.
Your approach isn't not right. It's not important that there is a lot of competitors. Because people need social media old accounts, proxies, backlinks, freelancers, cloaking softwares all the time. You just need convince them to buy what you want to sell them.

Dropshipping is done. Back in the day you could get cheap paid traffic, allowing you to do this at scale. What used to be 2$ RPMs now are 10$ RPMs. Marketing costs went up multiple times. There are all sorts restrictions, especially if you're shipping to Europe. There's more competition and especially people from China, they get iitems directly from factories or they own factories themselves, they could get the products much cheaper than you ever could, on top of that they are willing to work on a smaller profit margin. The juice is not worth the squeezing.

Just start with anything man.

Each time you delaying it you are delaying your sucess.
Even if your business makes 0$ first month keep it going.

Nothing comes easy
bro, you said everything correctly and correctly, without trying and failing, you won't understand whether it's yours or not and you should get in there.

If you already have experience as a dev, pivot into web 3. See who needs what and post about it with an engagement cta like follow and comment sauce for x kinda thing. As far as ecommerce goes if you don’t have atleast $200 to spend every few days testing products I don’t think it’s worth it, some people preach organic is a wave. Though, it isn’t consistent and ads will always be king. Best of luck to you.

You have a good point. Convincing people to buy your product is the hard part, but that's what business is all about isn't it. Thank you very much for the advice.

Thanks for your point of view, it's really useful. I read a lot about whether dropshipping is worth it, but most people say what you say, I'll take your advice, thanks a lot!

You're absolutely right, I'm planning to do something this year, I have to act, not just think.

You are right, thank you for your reply! I have to try some method and learn from it
