How I made $140 in one day. Black Hat

1. I went to my local community college

2. Found out how to table in the cafeteria.

This was way easier than I expected. I asked at the registrar and they sent me to this woman in the student union. I told her I was part of the entrepreneurship club and I wanted to hold a bake sale for hungry children. She literally said, "When?" I told her Tuesday April 20. She pencilled me onto a calendar.​

3. I went to Shoprite and bought brownie mix and cake mix. It was on sale something ridiculous 5 boxes for $5. I baked as much food as possible on the night of 4/19.

4. I made a giant sign that said "Feed a Hungry Child! Buy a Brownie.

5. I sold baked goods on 4/20 I made $140. To feed said hungry child (me). I would have made more but I ran out of brownies and cupcakes.

The school did not check for a student ID and I am not even enrolled at the college. I did donate $60 to the global hunger project because I felt a little bad about pulling this off.:cool:

A little story. My mom was pretty grumpy when I was a kid. Whenever anyone, particularily the salvation army people, would ask her for money, she'd reply sarcasticly with "I believe in charity too. Charity begins at home; MINE!" - it was embarrassing...

Anyway you shouldn't feel badly about making that money. You donated some of it. If you're looking for permission to be a entrepreneur, you got it.
 
Thats actually pretty funny that you even tried it. I can't imagine someone going to a college and doing that out of all the methods of making money. Funny stuff.
 
Now turning that idea into an online moneymaking project would be interesting.

"Buy an iPod. Feed a hungry child."

And yeah, you could donate SOME of the proceeds to charity.
 
That's the worst black hat method I've seen yet. So sad, yet so brilliant.
 
I don't really like stories like this being called "black hat"

"Once I punched a dude in the face and robbed his walled - check out my blackhat" - what a pile of s**t this isn't black hat, it's just scum bag scamming with no intelligence involved whatsoever.

If you wanna scam like that setup a fake charity and employ 10's of people to collect money for you, but don't post the method on here as "black hat" and mislead noobs on this forum into this shitty way of thinking.

OP may not know it yet, but he has a brilliant career ahead of him in mortgage banking. :rolleyes:

If he can expand his operations by going door-to-door, there are millions of elderly people with a small savings account that he can solicit for 'donations' for his orphans & widows program (himself, of course).

It's not blackhat, of course.

It's black-hearted. Different karma.
 
Funny that you did that on 4/20 and it is nice to hear the store name Shop-Rite.

I grew up on the Jersey shore about 5 blocks from one and haven't been in Jersey since 1992.

Great idea and very generous of you to share some of that revenue.

I can't believe you guys are calling this brilliant. First of all, I don't know a single kid who hasn't thought up the "brilliant" plan of pretending to raise money for a charity. Second of all, if you think this is just slightly blackhat, and not completely immoral then you, quite frankly, are an idiot. Black Hat isn't about pretending to help people, or pretending all proceeds go to a charity and then keeping half.

I'm not particularily pissed off at OP because he did give a portion to a charity, but he still outright lied. Lying to customers usually wouldn't bother me that much, it depends on the situation, but when you play on people's emotions and make them think they are helping a good cause when really you're pocketing the money, then you need to have second thoughts about life (by that I mean living it.)

This is the kind of thing I would absolutely love to see someone get arrested for. Be more creative and less manipulative.

Thanks. It was less about making the money and more about taking action. Selling the brownies made me realize all it really takes is planning out the task an doing it. For some reason it seems to always be the most difficult part.

I never lied. I was the hungry child. It was 4/20. It was a clever play on words. Most of the students understood it immediately.

You have balls, that's why I like your post. Please don't do it again though, find a much less pathetic way to market lol.

I like the fact that you donated. Donating is a great thing for all the people who grew up with shit because of a bad choice on their parents part. If anything, use your money to invest in a respectable form of IM and do the cake sale again purely for charity :)

Since you've got the balls to do this, I think you'd be very successful in offline marketing. You should really check it out or give it some consideration!
 
Some people would make a post like this because they want other people to think they are cool or have balls. Are you that person?
