Backlinks - Can anyone suggest a service that actually works!

@bugeye - That's the If I can do it then anyone can theory. It's a common mistake people tend to make. The reality is that different people have different talents.

I fact I was quoting and pointing out the same error made by someone who said that "Micallef is right. Do your own backlinking and sub out the real labor intensive stuff like article writing."

However in this case, the backlinking is not only about skill sets such as article writing, but about knowing where and how to backlink for effectiveness, which seems to be well hidden knowledge. Plus google makes you dance the tango for your efforts.

only High PR links from authority sites are worth the money, use some black hat techniques wisely, that shall work,

No argument there.

Like they say, "if it was easy, everyone would be doing it." LOL :beerchug:

It's true, it does depend on your skill set and what you enjoy doing. I can imagine what it would be like for someone trying to start building backlinks who doesn't have the skills and experience. It would be extremely time consuming and frustrating. Only later on do you get good at it and start to enjoy it.

Thanks for everyone's response. From what feedback there is here and personal experience over the past 2 months, I can only conclude that you are better off building your own backlinks. The backlinks I build take time, but they exist and do the job, although very labour intensive. All services so far have failed - I have tried approx 6 different services, spent in excess of US$400 with appalling results. Thanks again to those who responded to this thread.

Yes, definitely learning to build backlinks yourself is a huge advantage over buying services. Only once you have mastered it yourself can you tell what is going to help you in ranking. Then at that point you can hire people to do some of the work for you, but at that point you will only be paying for stuff that you know works really well because you have tested it.

That's about the best advice you can give for everything regarding automation and outsourcing.

So many people find forums like this, read a few things about how the secret to success is by automating things. They go out and by tools like scrapebox and xrummer, and then just totally make a mess out of everything. Not only for themselves, but ruining great methods for everyone else.

If someone doesn't know how to do something manually, how can they possible know the right way to scale it up.

my biggest problem is which sites r best for back links im new so i dont know how to find out what the page ranks r for the sites i go to?

Once you master the art of backlinking you are in a much better position to have someone perform the service for you. You know how it is supposed to be done.

Not picking on klawre1221 in particular, but the comments in general.

Nothing said in this thread so far will actually help the OP in any way.

It is kind of like telling the bullied kid to just stand up for themselves. It only works with tactics and technique, and if these are not given, then all that is actually being said is "get in there and get beaten up again!"

I am personally of the opinion that most backlinking is pointless nowadays as the big G has caught on and is now playing a different game. The few that do seem to help are ezine articles linking back to your site followed up by regular but sporadic updating of the site.

Most backlinking results are ephemeral at best. Social bookmarking seems definitely not to work.

There are obviously tricks that some BH'ers use to get traffic, but they are not letting the plebs like you and me know what they are.

What made come this assumption? I can tell you now it is very very incorrect. I run a SEO company and big part of what we do is track down backlinks.

We built a stand alone backlink service as a lot of people aren't willing to cough up the cash for full SEO services. All it does is build backlinks for clients and you should see our happy clients.
***

If that is not enough proof. The website has been around for less then 2 months and is already number 3 for **** thanks to its quality backlinks

Yes obviously!!!

It can't possibly be that they are just good at working the methods they actually do share with you. There must be some magic bullet method that's being held back from you.

In fact this whole forum is obviously just a big scam, trying to shift everyones attention away from what actually works. It's all part of a master plan to keep the REAL TRICKS out of the hands of the plebs.

Probably the wisest thing you can do is just ignore all the posts made by people sharing things that have worked for them. You certainly won't learn the REAL TRICKS by using the searchbar to find threads and posts discussing work that should be done.

A method, is a blow by blow description of how to do something. Method: "a way of doing something, especially a systematic way; implies an orderly logical arrangement (usually in steps)"

This is rarely offered in BHW.

"Build quality backlinks" is not a method. It is a piece of fluff. They may be good at doing what they do, but offering actual methods is a rarity.

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/180550-how-i-made-682-one-day-keep-getting-paid.html is an example of the rarely offered methods.

Like everyone else in this thread, you have offered nothing at all constructive. Just a whole load of hype and hot air. The OP said he has paid exorbitant amounts for backlinking services many by "quality" and respected BHW members and is still suffering a lack of traffic.

The only comment on this thread that was slightly constructive was the one that suggested his content might be lacking.

The "TRICKS" comment of mine was a minor one that pointed out a simple fact. There are BH tricks that do increase traffic and these are not shared. Often because if they are shared, the methods will lose their effectiveness. This is not rocket science, nor does it take a psychology degree to understand that people want to hang on to their best advantage.

Your only comment to assist the OP was "use the searchbar!" WOW, such an inspiring and helpful offer. There are only a million posts to go through. Mostly fluff and old stuff that no longer works. But Hey, the real gold is in there somewhere.

Many methods used to work at some time in the past, but no longer do so because of a simple fact, Google and the other search engines are trying to offer quality. So they continually update to counter these effects.

This is worth answering, but I don't want to hijack the OPs thread, so I started a new thread in the lounge to give a response to your post.
Fluff vs. Step by Step Methods

In the meantime I hope the OP can get some more advice in this current thread to help him out.

I think a more planned out overall backlinking strategy would be helpful. Make sure that his title and description are good enough to entice searchers to click on his link when they do find it in the SERP, and making sure that his website seems worthwhile to the visitors when they arrive at his site is the best advice he can get. Maybe a few other members can offer him a few specific ideas to help accomplish that.

To the OP, I will give you a blunt assessment of backlinks.

- forum profile links aka xrumer and the sort are useless because google never crawls them.
- forum posts on .edu sites are near worthless as well because the users there will never click them.
- link wheels are not effective because google can figure them out and know what you are up to.
- mass untargeted forum posting aka xrumer is in effective because these are low ranking forums that you aren't going to get any visitors or PR juice from or the mods will be there to delete it.

Now what does work:

- social bookmarks - there are about 500 good ones, they have decent PR, they want your links and google loves them.
- web 2.0 properties - these are often used in linkwheels, but just using a few is a better strategy. Sites like squidoo, hubpages, etc.
- scrapebox has potential because it can target.
- youtube and tubemogul
- article syndication

I recommend you learn how to build your own links.

I manually build for about 100 of my sites, but it breaks down to not very much work over time. I enjoy significant success. You don't need to pay for these services. The only service I pay for is article writing as that's too time consuming for my taste.

Totally agree with this, Its exactly what Im doing. :lever:

It is all about finding what works the best for the amount of time invested. I can say one thing a lot of the advice you read on boards and even this board are completely wrong. Urban myths that white hats want you to believe and people posting stuff that isn't correct at all even if they believe it is. You won't know this stuff until you actually get your hands dirty and do some real testing. It is all about doing BH stuff correctly for the absolute best results. Put it this way I am an offline consultant that works with real brook and mortar companies and I consider myself close to 100% black hat and I am having a lot of success.

Another thing to consider is what nich you're in? And measurement are you using to determine your results?

If your in a very competitive niche and you do all the steps you mentioned it might move you up a long way in the SERP and still not get you near the top. It might be that the things you've been doing have had an effect, but just not enough.

If you're measurement is simply the traffic you recieve, then moving from page 437 to page 85 in the SERP may seem to be no results, even though you accomplished a lot. It's just that in a competitive niche, it still wasn't enough. You still need to move from page 85 to page 1 or 2 before you'll see the results translate into traffic.

I certainly don't know if thats the problem in this case, but it's always something to consider when your evaluating the results of anything you're doing.

Exactly. You moved from 437 to 85. That IS an achievement. It's just not a good enough one and you need to repeat and/or get more links from other places.
