Weird redirect from big Authority site follow link

How is this possible, i'm tracking a big spammer and he got tons of follow backlinks from the sign in page, it looks like https:// authoritysite.com/signin?Nexturl= his site

does anyone know?

These sorts of links are pretty widespread as they're both easy to get (you just tweak the query string) and can be obtainable from domains with high third party metrics. But like Google redirect links, they don't really have any effect, other than to sometimes artificially inflate metrics.

The pages don't have any unique content.
The pages are quite often noindex'd.
The pages are not going to index naturally, and will need tiering for any sort of permanence.
