JQ

deactivate all the addon, until it come back to normal

Ken,

I'm still having trouble. I have WP 2.9.2 but I don't know if its MU or not. Neither of them work - MU version goes to the install page and the non-MU version says its "done" in the status bar (done loading,), but its just a blank page. Also, what does MU stand for?

Edit: Also-

1. Nevermind, its there.

2. I deleted all spaces after ?> and it didn't change the results when I tried both ways (spaces & no spaces) on both db versions.

3. I'm working with 2.9.2 which I installed a couple days ago using Fantastico.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks again for your help with this, I really do appreciate it. :o

Can you PM me your blog URL? If you have no wp-includes/wp-db.php, then you may be using some other variation of Wordpress (maybe BuddyPress, etc... ?? )

I apologize, I thought I was looking for db.php or something (don't remember what the heck I was thinking). It has wp-db.php, just double checked and its indeed there.

PM sent

Same here. I'm getting a timeout error. It may be the cron jobs running along with WProbot?

@ Grandslam, Thank yoiu.
@ Everybody with Wordpress (not MU).

There was a problem in wp-db.php.txt that gave you a blank page and have fixed it. Please get the new version, and give it a whirl. It should work properly now.

If you have any problems, please let me know.

Thanks again.

@ Grandslam
Wordpress MU is a multi-user version of WordPress, which is what sites that allow people to register for a blog, use.
Wordpress is just like MU, but only allows one blog and is easier to install and use.

Also just to clarify the PM I just sent you, I used the same link you posted a ways up above this post. I'm assuming that link has the updated page on it? Or is there another link I should get the code from?

Now updated my blog with revised file and it definitely loads quicker. Not sure why I didn't get the blank page straight away but it did materialise later!!

All seems fine now though...thanks again Ken!! :)

It all depends on the PHP version used. Some things I added were not happy in all PHP versions, but should be Ok now.

Are you talking about your actual blog page or your blog's backend/dashboard? My blog page is quick, its my backend/dashboard that's extremely slow.

Thanks again Ken for you help, very generous of you.

I tested all 5 blogs on hostgator and it is working fine. Server load may be the issue.

Thanks Ken that worked perfectly :) :)

Which link did you use? My backend is still slow as mud. :(

I know Ken will get it fixed, but in the meantime I'd like to mirror what you did and see if anything changes.

My update will help with database related issues, however if you want to speed up your dashboard, go to tools->tools, and enable Turbo (Google gears). This will cache the dashboard on your local system, making it quite snappy to maneuver around.

Thanks!

Blog Page is loading quicker Grand Slam...which is what I was worried about the most to be honest. It's actually quite strange because when I insert www infront of the domain it's still rather slow to load, but if I drop it, the site loads quicker.

I've already got WP Super Cache installed, puny png-ed my images and have tried compressing some of the files. I still think it should load quicker than this though.

The /wp-admin/ access is still slow although my cpanel access is much quicker than it was previously.

I'm sure HG must know about these issues but is trying to fob us all off.

Please excuse any ignorance in the above comments but I am wholly self taught and still learning as I go along!! ;)

How will these changes impact future releases of WP?... is this something that will need to change or should it be good for the next few releases?

@fiebs, I am pleased it is working well.

I've been wondering if this is a HG problem or a WP one to be honest. I visited a high ranking blog today and that was also extremely slow to load. It would be interesting to know if anyone else is experiencing problems, who are not with HG.
