is there in your experience a limit to how many automated(well structured fake real looking profiles) can engage with a mother account or any account before the main account gets some for of shadowban or stop the posts from going viral to some degree.

I guess 10 comments on a 1000 follower page look normal and the same for a 1000 on a 100.000 page but surely some page gets flagged after 10.000 accounts comment on a 1000 followers page

I see this on a lot of profiles that are being actively promoted and don't think it is about laying low for a while, but some marketing stunt to increase conversion by trying to either get more followers instead of lurkers or drive more traffic to the external link.
