Are YOU worried with U.S. falling currency rate?

Sorry, you're wrong;

More jobs in Philippines are created when the USD is higher because it buys more. What is happening there now is Americanization - your addiction to
American products that will keep you in debt ...because the entire American
economy is based on debt.

And before you jump in - no, not all countries have debt-based economies.

I will agree with you that there will be more jobs in the Philippines. But that is true no mater what the U.S. $ is doing. "Why hire an American with a HS diploma when I can get 3-5 Philipinos with a 4+ year degree and experience for the same money?" And Americanization? That has been happening here hard core since the end of WW II. Just now the Peso buys more U.S. goods. And thus feeds the above loop-back. Debt based economy? I would love to discuss that in depth! I agree with you there but I think my views would look like the conspiracy theories we are not allowed to do here.

New highs for USD today, the markets are absolutely mental. Nickel down 13%! Copper 10% in 2 days! New lows for fiber 1.2800!

Currency from Brazil is also getting strong.

Last year 1 usd = 2 reais
now 1 usd = 1,7 reais

Brazil has no infrastructure whatsoever and the least increase in consumption leads to inflation due to lack of supply. There is no reason for this strong currency IMO.

The high in the USD is because Greece is in a financial crisis right now. The Euro has been dropping in value. Some people think Spain and Portugal could be asking for a bailout soon. The USD has been a safe haven for investors because it is the central currency of the world right now. The same happened with the USD when the crisis hit the news back in 08. Nickel and Copper are down because investors fear economies will not use as much now. Silver has also taken a hit.

From cnbc the biggest debtor nations. America is 20th of the top 20

But, if you guys really want some inside info you should listen to alex jones prisonplanet.com

Anyways, long story made short, the US is screwed. The only thing that's saving us is that the rest of the world is so bad off financially. We are a HUGE reason for the whole worldwide crisis. The rest of the world suffers. But, once they get their self in order, which they will, they will surely take flight from the dollar, to stop themselves form being subject to something similar happening again.

Its going to be hard though, and could truly bring war. We as americans hold the world hostage economically. Oil is traded in USD only, for now. But when Saddam tried to get it traded in euros instead, look how that turned out for him...

Overall, americans are growing weaker and dumber by the day. Its one of the reasons we can do what we do so well! But i'd truly look into gold, I own it. And overalls yes, concerns over the dollar collapsing is genuine. As soon as we start to see strength in europe there WILL be a flight from the dollar.

Asia is the way to go. The banks are not going to ease credit to Americans and america again. We have our debt already solidified. WE bought all our plasma TV, all out cars, all the clothes and stuff that has 90% of adults in debt already. So, why lend more money to them. When we can lend it to....hmm.. people that are now hungry for it and have the ability to buy it. Like china :P

Rome hasnt fallen yet, but we're definitely on our way. Theres no hope for this entitled disgusting country anymore. Any nation that will make a genius struggle among bullies and beatings, while coddling a retard and spending millions on him over his life so that he MIGHT be able to flip a burger one day, is a genuinely ill nation

Way to go for punishing prosperity. The us country betrayed every citizen in it. But, this is going into other stuff. Overall, I'd strongly suggest people buy gold

I live in Brazil and i know what i'm saying. Act as an adult and give good reasons why you disagree instead of offending the poster like a child.

Polo (and KBC for that matter) - I have produced constructive criticism more than once in this thread and you have clearly not read my comments which indicates why you're wrong already. Perhaps you should read threads before posting in them next time, my comment was duly justified as you behaved as an uneducated person would.

I have provided on more than one instance examples of why saying:

"1.5 is stronger than 2" is false.

  1. PPP - Purchasing Power Parity
  2. My previous example of sterling above
  3. Provided Indices of the USD showing how it's strengthened.

If you still need clarity on this issue (which you clearly do) I would suggest visiting wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchange_rates#Quotations

Polo, I wasn't arguing against your quotes, I was arguing against your view that your currency has strengthened.

wbgeraf - I would argue that because the commodity sector is priced in USD, when USD strengthens Oil, gold, copper, must slump. :)

------

As I said before in this thread, people who thought the Euro was a safe bet were wrong.

The Greek contagion has just started and so has the flight to JPY and USD. On another note the DJI fell 1000 points on Thursday within minutes, I watched it and I felt physically sick. It was the second biggest fall in history.

Video if you want to watch - that candle chart is daily I think.

Trichet needs to get his finger our of his arse and the SNB have stopped their bid in the CHF currency.

Volatility is through the roof at the moment and I hope no one is holding long stocks.

I hope some people find this useful and I understand my posts seem arrogant or even rude. That's just the way I type and in no way directed nor on purpose.

Have a good weekend, Monday is going to be amazing fun for traders.

Polo, I owe you a fullhearted apology.

I was drunk when I commented then and I'm drunk now.

Talking to 3 traders and completely confused myself.

If USD stays the same, and REAL goes from 2 to 1.7, real is strengthening. You are talking about the inverse form of what currencies are usually measured in hence my reply - ie, USD/REAL rather than REAL/USD. My bad.

Sincere apologies.

Phil

Looking at it again, I need to apologise for everybody here who has a weak currency and inversing their pairs!

My bad!

That happened with Oil, copper and other commodities. Gold hit a new high in the USD and silver moved back up on friday. I think this is because of inflation fears.

I'll post when I'm home...

Nah mate, cfct said there would be a ban of illegal shorts. Www.market-ticket.org might has something on it. Basically there's no real gold, so at the end of contract expiry banks push of down so anyone holding is forced to sell it, tree was a whisper blower ecently about this. Anyways, cfct came in and warned of he consquencrd, immediately after lots of shorts got sold off. Deflation ftw.
