TikTok Ban in the USA - the process

Everyday this guy is talking about TikTok, whenever I come to BHW there is another post of this guy about TT
Are you afraid that the evil comrades have been listening you? xD

TikTok, Telegram, VK, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, WeChat are all garbage spying us, but it seems that you think that one piece of garbage stinks more than the other because one is red and the other has some stars on it...don't worry man, when the war China vs Taiwan begins (in the next few years), it will be banned, or even before... and we will be able to continue using spywares made in the US or Europe

Because it's the business area I am specializing for last 1 year?
Go attack SEO guys for talking about SEO. If you don't like, you have a magic button to ignore me

It's not such easy to ban TikTok on European Union level.
Only the European Commission can make new laws.
Then prime ministers of each 27 countries must approve it.
After that, parliaments of 27 countries must approve it.
Making such law in Europe is even longer than in the USA. Standard new law is 5-6 years ;)
We're able to go faster depending on the file :) Well, right now, I don't have an example and no, you're not going to make me search the European Parliament website tonight. But, have a look at the legislation on platform workers (Deliveroo/Uber), for example. It didn't take this long and yet, here it is, it's done.
Or are you thinking of some other kind of Digital Services Act-style legislation?

Uber is legal in most European countries. Some cities dissallowed it ;)
If you think about platform workers law, it's still not implemented in many countries. Poland will implement it after July.

I was thinking of Uber Eat more than Uber (the VTCs). :)
So, yes, it's normal that it's not on the agenda yet since it's just been voted so it needs time to be transposed, you know perfectly well that there is a deadline and that it's mentioned in the Official Journal of the European Union :)

They are banning tik tok for 3 reasons:

1: The bloated legislation shows their goal is control over all social media. All media will be gov controlled.....think Facebook during the pandemic or Twitter before Musk. This leg changes the relationship between gov and private business. Before, it was voluntary and happened due to partisanship...well, basically the uni-party against Trump. All the hoopla that happened with investigations showing that the Biden Whitehouse asked Facebook, etc. to censor whatever will never be an issue again....bc it will now be the gov's legal right to direct whatever they want.

2: All social media spy on users. But with Tik Tok, there is no direct gov control. If Facebook gets compromising info on someone in government, there is little reason to use it...instead, they are blackmailed in secrecy. The intel community/gov gets what they want on the end and the compromised person is held captive but safe from embarrassment until they are no longer useful or blackmailing them is no longer beneficial.
So, this is a way for the gov to protect ITSELF

3: COMPLETE MEDIA CONTROL. Remember when the farmers were holding Paris captive? Or the Dutch farmers? Of the coups in the African countries? Oh ya....most of you probably don't. Bc news almost globally decided not to show it. Worse than that, there were huge protests within my own country that I didn't hear about until I saw it on tik tok. The gov subsidizes all major media companies in Canada and fully funds one. So, quite often anything anti-gov is absent from the news... and this is in Canada.

Trust me, if the American gov wanted to protect the people against China, there are faster easier ways to do it.

Remember when the farmers were holding Paris captive?
So, if you don't mind me saying so, Paris hasn't been held captive by farmers.
The guys blocked France's highways. But we still got around, and I promise you we didn't have any supply problems in Paris and the suburbs :D
In fact, the guys staged a social movement before the Salon de l'Agriculture, which is a big event in France.
And the Government (and Parisians) didn't panic more than that for one simple reason: we knew that unlike the Yellow Jackets or this summer's riots in the suburbs, it wasn't going to last.
On the other hand, I have bad memories of the riots in July 2023.

Ok, let's back to TikTok topic guys because it will be closed if you continue politics talk.
Calm down ;)

I mean, only the fact that the TikTok algorithms show different stuff to the origin country this app is from, and for example, the US, is a paradox.

Still, everyone is using it.

From a marketing point of view, it's getting more and more relevant, looking at Statistics:
  • "In 2022, TikTok generated four billion U.S. dollars in advertising revenue. This figure is expected to double by 2024 and more nearly quadruple by 2026." - https://www.statista.com/statistics/1305708/tiktok-ad-revenue/
  • https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/hubspot-blog-marketing-industry-trends-report:
    • "Facebook's still the most popular platform used by markers (57%), followed by Instagram (55%), YouTube (52%), TikTok (44%), X (39%), and LinkedIn (37%).
    • "56% of marketers using TikTok will increase their investment next year, the highest of any platform. YouTube and Instagram will also see a significant boost in investment. "

Regarding Uber:
In Germany, for example, only Rental Car Companys are allowed to serve as Uber drivers with certified Drivers.
It's unlike in the US, where everyone can sign up as an Uber driver.
They want to protect the Taxi-Business.

Best

It doesn't matter if they ban it or not, for US accounts we don't get any views and this is currently the biggest problem. Just check Reddit, many people write about that.

If this is your only Problem about that, you are definitely someone who is not overthinking hahah
Best regards,
zotix

Yes, if this happens, it will cause great damage to the revenue of businesses, as well as content creators

my opinion this is just a crazy marketing stunt and is drawing more attention to TikTok than any other social network

People have many doubts, so I will write short process instruction.
So people will not cry, TikTok will tomorrow vanish from the USA. It will not happen so soon

STEP 1
1. House of Representatives - signed
2. Senate - will sign, not signed
3. President, Biden - will sign

RESULT - TikTok have 1 year to sell the business

STEP 2
1. TikTok will sue the USA in every from 50 states
2. TikTok will sue the USA in the Supreme Court

RESULT 1
- TikTok will have another 2-3 years until they need to sell the business, because the law is against US constitution.
RESULT 2 - TikTok will be legal in some states and illegal in other states
RESULT 3 - TikTok will be legal everywhere if they win in the Supreme Court

Middle Step - election will win the president who is against TikTok ban law. Trump told he not like it, because Facebook, Google or another big tech can buy TikTok and become the ultimate monopolist in the USA.
RESULT - President revoke the law and we are coming back to STEP 1, point 3

SUMMARY:
1. You have 1-3 years before TikTok will be deleted from the USA
2. You have many chances it will not be banned
I somehow doubt the banning of tiktok in USA, alot of awareness is been created with the app or maybe they just want to get rid of it for some known reasons to them

This post is super based

If the US Congress, the Senate, and the President, ALL agree to do something in the US, no one can stop them, not even the Supreme Court.

The job of the Supreme Court is to "Interpret" the law, not to make the law...

Congress is the entity that makes the law, and if the President is willing to sign it, they can also change, amend, or rewrite the Constitution if they want to...

They can even abolish, expand, or reduce the Supreme Court if they want to...

Heck, the US Congress can make laws even without the President if they have the votes...

So, the notion that anything can go against Congress + Senate + President is COMPLETELY false.

TixTok may try to sue, but if the US Government is willing to fight, they will ALWAYS win.
