Rental, food, clothing, fuel - $4000/m in such cities.
It's not normal

Of course you can live nice in smaller city, for $2000/m and with flats for $125 000 but it's still small flat.

People here on BHW are very happy when they earn $20-$50/day - but here even $200/day starting to become problematic.

You think that's bad? Toronto apartments are selling for $10,000+ per square metre!

My apartment is exempt from rent control (where landlords can only raise rent by 2.5% a year). Five years ago I was paying $1800/month for my two bedroom apartment. This year it is $3700/month and that is considered CHEAP!
