[Journey] Freedom - $100/day

So far, its working great. Working is fun, since less dopamine.
You mean more dopamine gets released during work and you have a steady flow of it.

If you get a huge release of dopamine (eg. Amphetamine), you can work with flow for 20 hours.

It means that more dopamine is beneficial for productivity. :D

Remove all pleasure from your life, you're gonna get hollow and depressed.

Good luck and before you do something like restrictions, consider if you're just idealizing removing something from your life.

Adding some cold showers is basically boring and sounds try hard. It. Just go out in t-shirt and do some gardening and stuff like that. Help someone just for fhe sake of it...

It's easy to tell yourself lies but it's like prayers. Fake shit.

People really go crazy with it. Then they suffer and blame it on the world. The problem is they tried to apply some hyped up gimmicks. You can do it but more randomly when you feel like it. Forcing yourself to do something like that is just gonna make you used to it and it should be fun... Just doing it everyday is really shallow experience that brings in more annoyance than benefit.

Think going in winter with someone to open pool. That sounds much better.

A real specialist can give you 390 techniques to make yourself feel good. People assume YouTube and podcasts are a good source of knowledge. No...

Personalization is key. Just applying random shit from random sources (doesn't matter if it's authority book or channel) ain't gonna change crap.

Would love to hear more about the real estate project.
Cold showers are amazing but I couldn‘t keep myself to do it.
Somehow it felt like it took all my will power for the day away but I want to get into it again soon.

I think with real estate a lot can be scraped and automated too.

I need one hour of competitive games per day to have some peace from work.

Just go ask for what you are afraid to ask. You might be surprised how many doors can open for you.
Who or what would you ask in the desert. There's a lot of stuff going on like circumstances, your current knowledge and intelligence you're born with.

This is wishful thinking. Sounds a lot like that stuff I see on YouTube...

Nothing happens to anyone because they want it. Bad or zero people around.

Go to a ghetto or some shitty place. Those people ask hundreds times a day for something. Nothing happens...

I'm trying to read through this journey but unfortunately I find you're trying to make your already good life better with some badly matched advice.

You became an engineer at the age of 21 at top tech company. There's no other way to explain that than exceptional talent.

Saying it's been hard work is pointless. An average person works really hard yet they usually get low results.

There is a lot of bulls*it everywhere, including this forum. Gurus lying about the way they make money... just to sell you a course. We don't know who can be trusted.

Exactly. Never trust gurus and random books.

Man, So True

Video games useless. Better get some nice relationships. It's more useful and pleasant too.

If you want to improve yourself, it's best to consult a professional. Someone else will have much bigger impact if you trust them. They will answer your very personal questions. That's much better experience than a random book.

It sucks that every book contradicts what other books say. Think psychology (important in improvement). There are many approaches to this. Yet one approach contradicts another. Without someone's help it gets confusing and it feels kinda pointless...
Well, I have been a competetive gamer for a long time. But when I get into it, I don't care about work etc. The only gaming I accept now is some Nintendo Switch with my fiance.
Books do contradict each other thats true. Im trying to just get bits and pieces from various books and create my own path and strategies.
That being said, I think basic human psychology books can teach out everything. Once you know human pyschology, you can create your own "strategies", cause this is one thing that all other books are based on.

Its more like. Remove exesive dopmaine that doesn't matter in the end. Now I get dopamine from work, making money, closing deals, spending time with my fiance and working out in the gym.
The thing is, when I go to bed, I feel satisfied and happy. When I got my dopamine from gaming or tiktok, I did not have that feeling of satisfaction.
Don't remove pleasures, just spend time on things that give you pleasure and satisfaction.

About cold showers and ice baths:
you do not get used to that. It is always a mental challenge to get in that water. But once you overcome it, everything else feels easier during the day. If I can get into that cold as fck water, I can call that client, close that deal etc.
I don't spend 3 hours on my morning routine, but that one thing makes me feel energized, awake and there is plenty of health benefits as far as I know, but its not why Im doing this.
Call it a gimmick or whatever, but it works for me. It puts me outside my comfort zone, and this is the place I want to spend time to grow stronger mindset.

Open pool in winter or sea is something I also do!

Glad to hear! Might make a new journey once I get more experience.
I also took long breaks from cold showers, it's hard to keep it up. But currently, this is one of my goals, to do it everyday this year. I hope I can keep it up. Should get easier once its not cold outside.
About the will power, it usually works for me in other direction. Wakes me up and gives motivation. But sometimes I do it before bed and no trouble falling asleep!

Some gaming is nice, I just get easily addicted. Like I have a need to become the best and grind... thats why detox was needed in my case.

Exactly. Never trust gurus and random books.
What I was trying to say here, is not some random quote, but what I found worked in my experience.
I literally decided to call some random agent I found on tiktok (on the toilet of course), cause why not and try to buy his services. Become business buddies and try to convince him to work "for me". Just from that one call, Im closing now two real estate purchases on nice prices.
If you don't ask because you are afraid, you might miss on something. Networking and relations is the power in my opinion.

That being said, I am not saying that my findings apply to every situation in life. There are places, that are so shitty, it can be extremly hard to achieve something.
But you can take that logic to anything. There are always exceptions to the rule.
I still stand by a fact that even in shitty place, if you have internet, you might miss on opportunity if you don't ask someone about something.

Also I am not a genius nor do I have exceptional talents. I think I have strong traits in some ways, but wouldn't go too far.

Well, it's been quite a lot of message to responds to here. Glad some of you enjoyed this post. The things Im saying are working for me.
I like to challenge myself with cold shower.
I got results by asking for something, that I never thought were possible.

It might work for some of you, and for some it might be stupid advice depending on situation.

Wish everyone all the best in their journies. Whatevery they are.

This is the problem with quotes and such. It's like a song. You can interpret it the way you want.

You pretty much mean the same thing as I do. Actually I think you know it even better as you've practiced it for longer time.

The only thing I could complain about is that your words weren't very precise. But that's normal with so much full schedule.

Love your way to open yourself up. Just grab the damn phone. Start with the smallest step which is few sentences as a buyer and close deals as you progress in the phone game.

When I was looking for psychology books I found Freud and Jung. I was disgusted and books seemed very specialistic in nature. I rather care about practicing it than reading about some findings...

Update
So life is random as fuck, but in the end it worked out.

Apartment #1
The day after I made my last post here, I went to finalise the deal officially. Buying my first ever apartment. When I went there, I asked the seller before we made the transaction, if I can pay him a small part once he moves out.
The deal was supposed to be like: We make official transaction (I become owner), I pay 90% -> he moves out within 2 weeks -> I pay last 10% -> nice.
Its just to keep myself safe of people not leaving the apartment after sale.

Well, he seemed not happy about it. So I let it go and asked the official what can I do in situation where he doesn't leave apartment. And I was instructed what I can do etc. I accepted that I pay 100% now, and trust the guy let's say.
Then when we were going over documents, the guy was surprised that I have 3 days to pay for the apartment and he was nervous I might not pay. It doesn't really work like that, cause if I wouldn't pay he can go to court etc. but yeah.
Anyway, he didn't want to make the deal happen on that day. We agreed to meet on Monday again and use a deposit to the official that will later forward to the seller.

TBH. I thought he would not come on Monday. The Agent that got me that deal, also said there is 80% chance he won't be coming.
Long story short, he came to the meeting, and we finalised the deal.

Funny part is, this apartment became on sale, because the seller heard my agent talking about real estate while eating a kebab. And I got the apartment, because I saw this agent advertise on tiktok while taking a dumb and decided to take a chance and call him.
Well. Now we are about to start renovations and hopefully sell for how much we want.

Expected profit: 10k USD.

Apartment #2
Same agent got me the deal. Not in my city, but we took a chance and went to see it, since the price seemed nice. the price was good, but we wasn't sure. It looked like the apartment might be hard to sell.
It had stairs inside that took your 2 floors up until you reached actual living area and slopes. But the price was good.
Anyway, we didn't really have money for that (we needed to borrow some), and we were not feeling super great about that deal. So we offered to pay 2500 USD less. Sounds like a weird number, but in my country its 10.000.
What we heard back is that it is probably not happening, and the Agent got another buyer. Long story short, they didn't buy and after 4 days we got info, that they will sell us for 2500 USD less. And we got initial agreement signed yesterday.
Still scared about that place, might not be the easiest to sell. The upside is we are not planning renovations there, just sell as it is almost.

Expected profit: 7.5k USD.

Sum up

To be honest, the actual profit might become more or less. We are just starting out and those are our calculations.
Just today the company we decided to create became real and I am actually a business owner! Crazy. No money tho yet haha.

If everything goes well. Selling even one of those apartments will make me more money than this Journey's goal is. I do split it 50/50, but it's still more than I need to complete this journey. I hope to bank around 10k USD for myself on those 2 deals.
It's not crazy money, but it's good money for a business that started 20 days ago without prior knowledge. We will try to scale the shit out of this, if everything goes according to plan.
Keep in mind, this 10k USD is a lot more in my country than for US folks.
Anyway, I can't wait to make my first deals as official company owner. Exciting times ahead.

Congrats on your journey! May i ask you where are you from?

There is a lot of bulls*it everywhere, including this forum. Gurus lying about the way they make money... just to sell you a course. We don't know who can be trusted.

"People feel stuck, they feel like there is no reason to take action, because they believe that they will fail."
The "People" in the quote is me. I've been reading, I've been watching videos, reading books, learning skills... but I didn't take action, at least not as much as I should. It's time for a change.

Let's put that into the test. Is it possible to make money... *ekhem* good money online? Find out with me during this journey.

I promise you that I will be documenting here everything with those 2 things in mind:
  1. No bull*hit
  2. Reality

This is part 1 of my journey to Freedom. I want to become independent of 9-5. I want to acquire wealth, and for me that means having time to do what I want to do for the rest of my life.

About me:
  • 25 years old
  • recently finished master's degree in computer science
  • living in Europe for my whole life (although we don't operate with EUR in my country)
Profesionall experience:
  • Worked in Facebook/Meta as an Engineer for 3-4 years
  • Now working in another big tech company
  • Had a few failures with starting companies or side projects
  • Years ago I was able to do some money by selling FIFA coins and selling counter strike gambling coins on platforms similar to ebay
  • I've made some money from stock investments, but it is not a money making method for me. Just safe investments on the side.
What im planning to do:
I want to create a business that can become as passive as possible. One way to go about it is automatition. It will take a lot of work to start and grow it, but with time it should become much more passive.
I was thinking about dropshiping via tiktok organic, but this is a lot of work and a lot of responsibility. While it might work, I don't think this is the path I want to start with.
After reading some journies on this forum, I decided to try out affiliate marketing (CPA) with automationon Social Media.
Why not SEO? It is hard, it takes a looot of time and effort. It requires skills I don't currently have.
Why Social Media automation? I have the skills to start working on my own bots, funnels and landing pages (if needed) to try and convert people.

With that being said.
1) I am not automation expert, bot expert or anything like that. I did some Selenium automation in the past, but nothing special.
2) I've never done CPA, I don't know how to make people click on the smartlinks. If I should even use smartlinks? Use landing pages? Use directlinks? What niche?

I KNOW NOTHING
I will be learning and experimenting with trial&error. I might fail, I might quit. I don't know what lies ahead. But I hope this journal will keep me motivated to keep going.

Plan
This is the initial detailed plan. Might change overtime, might choose different social media platform. But for now this is it.
  1. Figure out Social Media platform I want to automate first. Might be looking into Tiktok/Fb/IG or something less known? Maybe.
  2. Figure out manual flow for monetization.
  3. Learn, experiment and write bots that will perform this manual flow.
  4. Figure out how to market the smartlinks. Custom landing page? Directly? How to cloak? etc.
  5. Once the automation is working, experiment with different content, messages, links, landing pages, niches... until something works
  6. Once I get something working, double down on that.
  7. Get 100$ a day.
Unfortunately I still have a full time job... so the time I can put into this is limited. The plan is to do at least something everyday.

Updates
I will be updating this thread weekly until I achieve my goal or give up.

Final Words
I hope you will enjoy this journey, or maybe you will laught at me when I fail. It doesn't matter. I am taking action, and this is more than what 99% of people do.
I may be older than you and haven't worked in big tech companies, but our profiles are remarkably similar.

I may be older than you and haven't worked in big tech companies, but our profiles are remarkably similar.
I'm wondering if it's really so special to work at a big tech company.

Since it's so large, it's like many companies all over the world. Then bigger, smaller teams, then groups, individual relationships... A lot to choose from.

Maybe it's not as hard as they claim on YouTube.

I considered quitting software after watching some videos about some technical problems there on YouTube. But it was not my niche at all, so...

I'm more of a automation and black hat person. Practical coding. Not solving math problems by code. Never pursued math and science goals.

Software is too broad to quit altogether. It would be like... Quitting all art because you can't paint in some style. Or quitting fitness because you can't maintain *acceptable by fitness gurus* technique solo. Yeah?

I'm wondering what is an example list of tasks you get to complete there.

And how is that with deadlines and strees, mental health etc.

Very interested.

I think of learning C1 English and ask for some remote tasks to get some automation related job maybe.

My friends say it's easier in practice than in learning / training. I have self destructive tendency to exaggerate.

I'm looking for real tasks because what I see on the internet drives me nuts. Some absurd algorithms from leetcode and codewars. No way it's what this jobs are about. It must be better than that.

Gemini Advanced answer:

Is The "Big Tech" Experience Overhyped?

It's Not Monolithic: You're right; big tech companies are like sprawling cities, not single buildings. Your experience depends on your team, manager, projects, and even the company's specific culture.

YouTube Focus: YouTube often highlights the most extreme cases—the insanely difficult interviews, the grueling work hours. It's rarely representative of the average experience.

Finding Your Niche: It sounds like the technical problems you saw focused on areas not aligned with your interests. That's fantastic self-awareness! There's a place for you in software, but in a different, more practical realm.

Automation and Your Style

Perfect Fit: Automation and a dash of 'black hat' mentality sound like a potent mix for automating tasks and finding clever, outside-the-box solutions.

Math vs. Practicality: Many software roles don't require heavy theoretical math. Focus on tools and scripting languages that get the job done.

Example Tasks in Big Tech:

Here's a possible taste. Big tech covers a broad range, but in an automation-focused role, you might find yourself:

Infrastructure Automation: Writing scripts to provision servers, deploy applications, configure networks—all at scale.

Security Automation: Developing tools to scan for vulnerabilities, automate incident response, and build more resilient systems.

Testing Automation: Building test frameworks to ensure software releases are smooth, saving tons of manual effort.
Process Automation: Creating tools that streamline workflows across different teams (sales, marketing, HR, you name it!).

Deadlines, Stress & Mental Health

Variability: Just like any workplace, it depends heavily on team and company culture. Some teams in big tech are notoriously high-pressure, others surprisingly relaxed.

The Importance of 'Fit': Finding a team that aligns with your work style is crucial. If you thrive on tight deadlines and intense challenges, some environments might suit you well. Others offer more flexibility and prioritize work-life balance.

Company Resources: Many large companies have mental health programs, support groups, etc. This can be a significant advantage over smaller organizations.

Your Plan

C1 English: If pursuing remote roles is a goal, excellent English is a huge asset!
Real-World Tasks: Look into building projects, contributing to open source, even freelancing. Demonstrating practical problem-solving with code is more valuable than abstract algorithms.

Self-Doubt: We can be our own worst critics. Your friends are right—practical application is often where things start making sense!

The Bottom Line

It sounds like quitting software altogether would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater. There's a space for your unique skill set within this field. Big tech is just one potential path, with its pros and cons. Don't let exaggerated online examples deter you from pursuing what sounds like a fulfilling direction for you.

Update

The previous post I mentioned buying first 2 apartments. As of today I bought both apartments and the first one is being sold within 2 weeks.

Apartment #1

From the positives, I reevaluated the market and the Im selling the first apartment for a bit more, so the final gross profit comes to 18k USD.
After split and taxes this leaves me with around 7.5k USD profit in the pocket. Im quite happy with that result, since it's more than I expected, it's my first transaction and since Im
no taking the profist out but reinvesting, for my company it means we are going to have 15k USD more for the next investment.

I also learned a lot about selling apartments. How to market them, talk to buyers etc. Im far from great at that, but managed to sell relatively quickly so Im happy with that.

Apartment #2

Bough this one and already for sale. It's a bit trickier to sell this one, so Im selling through agent who brought the deal in the first place.
Planning to sell it this month or early next month for net profit from 7k USD to 10k USD.
Much less when you think about it, since that's before the split 50/50. But it's one of those deals where there is barely any work to do with the apartment itself. So +1 for building business relation and some cash is still nice to get here.

Currently I signed initial documents for 2 more apartments. One I found myself and second from the agent.

All those deals are expected to bring total of around 53k USD net profit.
So if we split 50/50 it's around 25k USD for myself.

Final words

The plan is to finalize all of those before the end of May. And of course in this business there is not pausing, so Im hoping to get another apartments before I actually finish all those deals.
The goal for the year is to get total profit for the company to around 125k USD.

Even if I achieve that it's still gonna be less than my full time job as of right now. But Im already super happy with current results and if I find consistency and ways to scale it further with private investors, I hope I can quit
full time job around the end of this year and keep growing this and other businesses.

I already identified some pain points, that I hope to resolve via software and potentially sell it in SaaS model as a second business.

I know the numbers Im showing here are nothing crazy, but the contact im making, social skills im improving, starts to show me that this just might be the right path for me.

I wouldn't say Im running a full on business here, since I don't really hire people. But I hope to do that in the future as well, and keep going into bigger and more exciting projects that will generated more cash and maybe even more freedom in a long run.

ALSO
I feel like this journey is fun for me, but it doesn't have much to do with this forum.
While maybe there are people intersted in this journey, I think once I sell 4 apartments, and in the process smash my goal of making 100$/day (although it's quite difficult to messaure this goal with this business model), I will probably end this journey
with feeling like in one way or another I achieved what I wanted. Maybe I'll start another one for the SaaS part, we will see about that! For now, another update will come in a month or two!

Good luck, seems that you have a good plan ,maybe break down specific steps and pieces will fall easier in place, however:

Wish You All The Best On Your Journey.
Keep Us Updated.

I guess he's too busy to update the BlackHatWorld.

Software engineering? These guys code for 18 hours a day!

Coming back here and reading https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/journey-freedom-100-day.1536747/page-4#post-17369905 I realize I'm trying to heal from my teenager age trauma and find my way to non-talented folk life!

I was full of anguish in february like a Redditor.

And I learned that if I don't want to do math-heavy stuff or engineering at corporate, simply I don't do it. :) Instead I can focus on my strong parts.

Obsession over weak sides makes me miserable.
