So - today im out doing a 3 mile walk, and on the way home
i pop into a garage that's half garage half shop.
i have about £40 - $45 worth of goods in my basket. i walk to the till to pay
and there's an old guy, mid 80s paying for some vegetables at the counter,
and 3 people inc me waiting to pay for our goods behind him.
the check out guy rings up the guys fresh veg which comes to about £4 / $5
but the old man is is 50cents / 50p short, i bite my tongue
as im standing 3rd in the Que to see if anyone would step in offer 50p
so the old man wouldn't have to put the carrots back. know one did.
so the old man starts to walk to the exit with a few potatoes and
couple of unions in a bag, no1 offered to help, that's when i lost
my cool.
i walk to the front of the check out, looked at the 2 people who
thought i was trying to push to the front of the Que, i was, but
not for the reasons they thought.
I pull out my wallet, im carrying about £300 ---- i looked at
the people in the Que, then the check out person and said, REALLY
no1 can help that old man for 50p ffs, i pointed a finger at the
till guy and said im paying for the bloody carrots.
after paying i let out a loud whistle that a wolf could hear at 10 miles
the old man stops and turns round as hes half way out the door,
i march to the door waving the carrots, he says - i cant afford to get
get them, i looked back and said,enjoy your dinner & heres ya carrots
his face lit up - he saids thanks n left.
its the little things.
