He doesn't see affiliate link, he sees your domain in this case. It could be named in a way that will peak his interest. And then there is a very small chance that someone will actually convert. Meaning, its a numbers game. And in this case, you have all the power when it comes to numbers.

Us marketers have already eaten from the tree of knowledge so it is definitely hard to fathom that people still follow these types of links.

But someone on the other end of the spectrum might still be green; they still have that innocent curiosity to see what the offer is about. For sure the number of site owners privy to this is comparatively small but they do obviously exist.

It's a numbers game, and people that are new to this sort of thing are being born every day. It's a numbers game.

Exactly. You need to create an enticing url that will encourage a clickthrough, to then redirect to your affiliate link. Even better if you can find a way to get a custom redirect url from a popular domain.

I've not done any ref spamming for at least a decade - not since the main method of collecting and viewing website stats turned from log file parsing to javascript and databases. Before that, spamming with simple http requests was so cheap and easy. Now you would have to have your bots parse and execute javascript for any chance to get your requests seen by GA etc.

Instead of using a domain that redirects to an affiliate url, use big sites like youtube or facebook to make a redirect to your affiiate link (or domain). People checking their analytics will see a facebook or youtube url as a referer and they'll want to see what it is about.

Or second method, use a domain like FBI-CRIME.com it will surely arouse their curiosity lol but then I dont see what to sell them after the redirection..

Better use this technique will pop and mom bloggers than SEO, and redirect them to products that could pick their interest ("how to jump higher" on clickbank for basketball site owners for example)

There's not really much to update, as there are only really 2 different vectors to go for:
1) standard http referer method
2) as above, but using a bot that can reliably execute javascript and not get filtered out as a bot (for GA and other javascript-based visitor tracking)

As @M4DM4X said above, you're best off crafting an interesting-looking url, and attacking a niche that your product relates to. So for example, scraping all domains with the word 'tennis' in them and getting the bot to visit a few pages on them them with the http referer of https://nicejuicydomain.com/redirect/best-tennis-information
