Discriminatory Infractions

Status

I created the same exact thread as the ones above asking for recommendations and endorsement exchange. I got an infraction for selling because I was bartering services.

This isn't necessarily a complaint: this is public invitation for a discussion about malpractices that could potentially annihilate the forum.
You complain about discrimination, report the threads you posted and see what happens.
The better option would be to ask the mod who gave you the infraction for a clarification.

He did and was given one.

Well might be some someone nonsensical like me who just reported your post.

I am just guessing as I am used to hitting the report button whenever I find something to report.

That's not allowed as I remember in the past threads in HAF section being deleted with such posts.
The issue isn't whether or not my action violated the TOS: it's about selectively issuing infractions. That sort of behavior makes the staff look biased or incompetent, which is detrimental to the forum culture. These are some of the bad practices that have led to the death of many forums.

Picture being an Arab man going through airport security in Washington DC with a 1 liter bottle of water. Then, imagine being singled out for interrogation because that 1 liter bottle of water in your possession violates airport regulations. Do you mean to tell me you wouldn't be concerned especially after seeing several other people walk through with the same 1 liter bottle of water?

It is this very nonchalant attitude towards social biases that is partly responsible for the rapid degeneration of our communities today.

You need to conduct yourself more like grown up.

To the best of my understanding, the purpose of this section of the forum was to allow it's users to provide honest and candid feedback. This is not a war; it's a respectable and honest discussion amongst civilized adults.

Maybe re-read the TOS and just own up to what you did, and just don't do it again. By posting, you're agreeing to the TOS, which states:
10. INFRACTIONS AND BANS

Although BlackHatWorld.com does not have the ability to police the Site, our administrators and moderators reserve the right, but do not have any obligation, to issue infractions or bans as they see fit in their absolute discretion. If you receive 3 infractions on the forum, again at the absolute discretion of BlackHatWorld.com, you may be permanently banned from the Site or suspended for a period.

When I was 5 years old, my father woke me up one night and took me out with some of his "friends". Now, I won't say who my father was and what he was involved in, just know that he's a very bad person.

Him and his "friends" then found a man, presumably homeless, and my father made me look at the man. He said, "Boy, you need to be hardened to survive in this world, you need to be tough". Him and his friends killed the man in front of me. I can still see the man's dead face in my memories as he lied there on the ground, blood pooling on the street's asphalt. Eventually, once they were done celebrating, they grabbed his body and tossed it in a dumpster. I can still hear what my father said: "Nobody will miss him". He was right, nobody missed him, nobody cared.

I have many more examples of the atrocities my father committed, but the point I'm trying to make is that there are real problems in this world, and this isn't one of them.
  • Firstly, the infractions are not discriminatory as nobody is discriminating against you. I mean, who even are you? I'm not trying to dismiss any potential contributions you may have made to the forum here, I just simply don't know who you are, and I doubt the other moderators know enough about you to discriminate in the first place.
  • Moderators are not "selectively issuing infractions", the examples you found are unreported issues
  • Your post was not "conveniently caught". A moderator either happened to come across it or they were informed about it by another member via reports, support, or DM.
  • Your thread was not "exactly the same" as the others; there are always minor contextual differences that can make a difference in your intentions. See the image below to understand what I mean.

But look, I completely agree with you, it does make us look inconsistent. As much as I appreciate this feedback and as right as you are to start discourse on the matter, this just wasn't the best execution. We rely on the community to help us moderate the forum by reporting this issues when they find them, not as a whataboutism response. Jumping straight to assumptions or accusing us of being biased helps us in no way to better moderate the community.

With that said, I will discuss this with the rest of the team on Monday to see if we can implement a clear rule against exchanges. If any change occurs, it will be posted in the changelog, and if your infraction turns out to be incorrect, send in a support ticket to have the infraction considered for removal.

Speaking of which, next time you receive an infraction, please use support.blackhatworld.com as this is the proper channel to go through.
