I run an Etsy store with exactly 250 sales (50+ 5 star reviews) now, relatively high ticket ($50-$250 per sale with <50% margins depending on ad spend typically). My products are in sort of a copyright grey-area since each item involves (likely) trademarked logos and brands, I guess Etsy interprets it as "handmade" even though I use a partner for production and fulfillment.

I'm looking to wean out of this though into something more consistently viable, and less at risk for getting shut down or even litigation (worst case scenario).

Any tips for a (relatively) established store with a good reputation + decent SEO placement to pivot?

I can get many handcrafted products for cheap and would like to try Etsy.
Problem is, shipping from my country is pretty expensive.
Sent out a piece of fabric (weight less than 300gr) to Europe, cost me $65 :cry

The most important thing is the margin. I'm considering a minimum of 30%.
I don't go into niches where the competition is more than 500,000 in search results for the main keyword.
The number of sales for me is not the main indicator. You can always increase sales in different ways and sell more than competitors.

Most likely the reason is that those who had a positive experience using Etsy simply did not leave their feedback, and when something went wrong, people immediately leave a negative review.

Of course, it is possible to earn money there and you can earn very well there. If something didn’t work out for your wife, then she did something wrong (wrong products for sale, bad photos, bad SEO, etc.)
