Instagram account hacked

Hi,

Instagram account of one of my family members got hacked. Is it possible to recover? The hacker got access to email before hacking instagram. Though email is recovered, unable to recover instagram yet.

Have anyone recovered hacked instagram before? Can someone explain recovery process?

The email was changed for sure and in that case, you can't recover it easily.

I think because the email of this Instagram account was changed, that you recovered the email but the account wasn't. So hard in this circumstance to recover the account. If you connect Instagram to a meta account or using a phone number you may find the way to sign in and change the password asap before the hacker changes this information.

If you have turned on the two factor authentication, then surely it can be recovered and also you if you have security codes then also it is quiet easy to get back your ccount even if the email id has been changed.

Not from that profile but I have an Facebook group through which I run ads but not connected to that account.

That they changed the mail, I don't think it's possible to recover the account now. Contact Instagram and explain them the situation, they can help you.

You can submit a support request to the Meta for the recovery of your account. They might ask you to verify your identity by providing all the necessary information. They might also ask for a video selfie to confirm your identity and there could be some chances that you may get your account back.

Try contacting Meta Support and see if you can get it back. If the account is essential and worth a few grand, you can open a HAF post to get the account back via portal/rep.

even if the hacker has changed the email you can use the OG mail to try accessing your instagram back but for that i think you'll need the phone as well, I've previously done it and it did work for me

Once the email and all other settings are changed on the account it's pretty difficult to get it back.
You an try filling out the form or contact META support but in many of those cases I have seen bad success rates.
