Yeah, 15 years experience, I guess it is a skill to find niches where no backlinks are required (must be less than 1%).
To be honest I have seen sites ranking in my niches with 1,2 links, but this is extremely rare.

Ultra low competition keywords, new niches, arcane niches, etc.
Congrats for making $1k without backlinks. But $10k, $100k, no way!

Yes, they are not easy to find and there are not many of them. but I've made a habit a few times a week of simply sitting down and looking for new niche sites.

I guess of course, non English would be easier. I am sure you can make a lot of money if you speak another tongue with low SEO competition, but unfortunately I only speak 2 tongues with high SEO competition.

Without link building but just do the on-page SEO, I've made several clients actual impressions, clicks, demands, leads, orders 2-6 times than without SEO.

Highly unlikely, you content would have to be of such an incredibly high standard that people would link to it naturally and even then you're going to need to do some outeach. In short for SEO to work you need to be doing active link-building

No without link-building it is impossible.

If by linkbuilding you mean traditional seo linkbuilding for the sake of linkbuilding like buying backlinks, web2.0s, pbns, etc., you can rank in lower competition niches without doing that kind of linkbuilding. You still generally need to do some degree of linkbuilding relevant to the niche or business like building citations, real social media profiles, YT videos, etc. that give the site the identity of a real entity PLUS great on-page seo. There are probably some very low competition keywords you could rank just with great on-page and a boatload of content, but is there value in those keywords (unless it's like specific to a local business in a small market)?

For mid to high competition keywords or niches, it's near impossible to rank without doing all of the above. You're just not going to link in a competitive legal niche without an aggressive seo approach unless it's a really small geo market.

I don't think someone can succeed in ranking their websites without link building if you are not a famous person on social media.
