I have websites I haven't done link building on with very low DR ratings but 5k organic, monthly visits in high-competition niches. It's certainly possible. But the question is, how much more would those sites have grown if i had done link-building?

As others have said, it is possible to succeed without doing link building, but it's much harder and you will need to stick with low-competition niches. I also hate outreach-focused link building, and the simple solution is to pay someone else to do it. When you're starting small, this can be a low-cost VA with the necessary experience. As you get bigger, an agency can do this for you.

Also as others have said, if you can focus on high quality content and have the luxury of time and patience, you can succeed without doing any link building at all. But I think that while possible, this kind of success story is rare.

its ok but link building is an off page technique, its on page SEO that you are talking about

you can 100% do this... BUT

you have to know the niches where you can do that and it works.

Example:

I bought a domain 3 months ago... I just did onpage seo and my domain has 0 backlinks, I moved up to position 1 on the word I wanted and the site has already generated about $800.
