Selling E books - purchased and downloaded without hosting the files?

Hi blackhatworld!
Today, my 2 friends and me decided to start creation of a website to sell E-Books.
An issue we came across while discussing the plan is - how to safely sell the ebook without hosting the files?
How do we let the customer pay and after that download the ebook?
What would be some options for this issue because we want to invest as little as possible at the beginning, so we are trying to avoid hosting the files on a server.

Hopefully i've expressed myself clearly enough.

You can just upload the pdf file on your site and lock it through the payment gateway. I used Easy Digital Downloads plugin for that and I used to make a couple of sales every month easily.
