I've had this Amazon Affiliate Blog for over 4 years now and the traffic was always steady around the 60-70k impressions per month range. That was until last Feb (2022) when traffic started dropping steadily. I thought it was some seasonal thing and let it be and didn't really concentrate on posting new content or adding fresh backlinks to the site.

During Jan 2023, when we reviewed the performance of this website, we decided to restart posting new content on a weekly basis and also slowly restart link building through Guest posting. We've been doing this for the last few months. The website got severely affected by the March 15th Google update but seems to be recovering to previous levels. Not sure why it got affected though. We haven't done any sort of blackhat backlinking of any sort for this website.

My question is, how do I revive this website and get the traffic back to the 60k impression mark and beyond? Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

Other competitors still can send you bad backlinks. Check if there's any and disavow them. For one, when your website drop down, it's not just about what you've done or not, your competitors can work harder to grow stronger and cast you out. So check your competitors also.

Thanks, I just checked the Search Console and disavowed spammy-looking links.

Could it also be a case of the ranking articles getting old and outdated? We do check the articles regularly and update the products and content, but the core of the content is the same as it was over 3-4 years ago. Could this have a negative impact on the rankings?

If the contents are ever-green content, then you're good. But if it's can be impacted within months, years then you should update it with more new content or split it into new article. For example, technology, trending, music ranking board,... are contents can be impacted with time. Also like @derek27 said, optimize your on-page and technical as good as possible because that's the core of your website. I suggest you take 5 different contents and then see how top 10 websites did it. I don't know your contents but when i write, if it's not ranking then the content is simply not good enough.

Updating old content will give you many quick wins!

Compare your pages' traffic from January 2022 to date, and spot pages that used to bring in maximum traffic and have now declined.

And then prioritise them in terms of potential traffic gains

Dealing with this stuff can be super frustrating, right? Sometimes it feels like your site's in a free fall for no reason.

First off, have you checked out CrawlSpider? It's been a game-changer for me in spotting issues. Make sure your site is still indexed properly and there are no crawl errors.

Also, updating old content can really help. Google loves fresh stuff, so maybe add some new info to your top posts. Another thing to consider is your backlinks. Quality over quantity is key, so clean up any spammy links you might have.

And don't forget to engage with your audience. Reply to comments, maybe start a blog series or something to keep people coming back. Just some thoughts that helped me out. Hang in there and good luck!
