Are Forums Still A Thing?

I mean you are asking it on a forum
Yeah this place is going strong but is there many others like it? Not necessarily in this niche. 15 years ago, there'd be forums on nearly every subject under the sun. Is it still the case?

Twitter, FB groups, and Discord.. are some of your enemies.

A lot of forums still thrive and well, of course its not like it was before when everyone tried to create their own forum and it was the shit.
I even know a few country specific forums that are still alive and well after over 15 years, I guess you just need to find the right ones.

Forums are great, and although they are more niche side of the internet rather than the role of social media like they used to be, you can still get away with doing: forum profile links, banner sigs, about me pages, custom blogs, after time edited post links, and marketing in content. Go wild out there, keep it relevant, and you'll be surprised at how much traffic and links you can get.

Forums, web2.0, social media == core tasks

yes, there have a lots of active forums, even some of them are stopped adding new members because of they wont want to add spamming members

It is. Forum is like something "exclusive" that only few people that really have passion and interest with something. Like you, here on BHW.

Forums are all dead and BlackHatWorld is not even real, it's all in our minds. It's all .. imagination.

My local firearm marketplace/trading forum is still very active and growing by the day.

I 've seen some forums dying, forums don't rank as high as they used to. Many forums are inactive with the last posts being years old. Reddit on the other hand is very active and the anonymous voting system helps keep the quality of the content high.

Maybe 15 years ago with no Social Media forums were the place to be.

In 2022, what is the deal with forums? Are they dead? Are there many active forums out there still?

Asking because I was planning on picking a niche and doing some forum marketing.
Yep, I own one on a different niche. It works pretty well. Make a couple thousand bucks.

I have noticed that for a few years now there are always around the same amount of people online on blackhatworld, I check a few times a day before updating BST etc and the number of people is the same (between 500-1000).

Just wondering if things getting stagnated here somewhat or what the issue is as you'd expect the number to grow constantly but not sure if any active marketing is being done and we just roll organically.

Forums are completely different to social media.

Social media is for random piss-talk. Nothing serious takes place on social media.

Forums are for more serious discussions because you have threads with a subject and forum sections. It's a more organized form of longer discussion.

Less popular than a few years ago because many get distracted with social media, but you'll find forums in every niche.

I just googled "porsche car enthusiast forum" and found plenty for porsche.

I don't think I can post even a car forum, so I won't do it, hehe.

But the one I'm looking at has posts from 15 hours ago, 11 hours ago etc.

Established in 2005, 1.2 million posts and 58k members.

And that's just porsche.

Where are you going to go to ask questions and talk about porsches.. A forum, or twitter? Twitter won't produce anything meaningful, nor can you find experts.

Forums are full of experts and people lasered in on the specific niche.

I googled another "fly fishing forum". Found one with the latest post, today, 2 hours ago.

It has 100's of posts within the past month.

They're not going to have the volume of social media, but they don't need to.

Forums won't ever die as long as the internet as we know it is alive.

That's the advantage to forums. You want forums with older/expert members. Forums are meant to be niche/expert based. A forum full of newbies asking questions is a dead forum.

Success of any forum depends upon how you manage it. BHW is the best example of this!

Consider a forum as a closed community of like minded people who have a common goal in general.

If you stick around the niche and moderate it well then the forum / community will flourish over a period of time.

Good thing with forums is that unlike a social media group or community you have a complete control over the data of the forum.

So to answer your question, yes, forums are still alive provided you put your brain, heart and soul maintaining and growing it.

If you aim for profits then a forum wouldn't be one of the best ideas,

It could work, but it needs more time and moderation to work unlike other type of websites,

There are much easier things to do and it won't require you any direct interaction with people or daily manual work,

A good idea could make it worth it, but not any other main niche forum, not a good ROI overall
