Are Forums Still A Thing?

Sports forums like HFBoards are killing it, always have been.

It is. Forum is like something "exclusive" that only few people that really have passion and interest with something. Like you, here on BHW.

It may sound crazy, but I plan to get my 7/8 figures with the internet this year. I started a month ago. Screw what they say about the gurus

Forums can be profitable but it is not one man thing anymore. You need a team to mange the forum.

Maybe 15 years ago with no Social Media forums were the place to be.

In 2022, what is the deal with forums? Are they dead? Are there many active forums out there still?

Asking because I was planning on picking a niche and doing some forum marketing.

Well you're asking on a forum, and there yes there are multiple forums where the members are active and social.

How do you think a forum for life coaching would perform? I've been contemplating starting one for sometime now.

I think that as forums get older and more saturated with content, people ask fewer and fewer questions because most of them have already been answered. I realize that I use the search tool here far more often than I post. The results often present the solutions I am looking for. My theory is that as the forum ages, you would have far more lurkers than active participants.

Since this post started I have started a few forums. The initial challenges tended to be selecting the software to run the forums. The next challenge, and perhaps the most pervasive, is finding people who will join the forums. Now that I have a better grasp of the forum software options and capabilities, my current strategy is to start a bunch of forums of varying topics. In one area I did start what would essentially be competing forums in the same topical space.

If you go into most malls in the U.S. there are a lot of businesses in there. Interestingly, many of those businesses are owned by the same parent company. Two examples of this are clothing chains and jewelry chains. If it works for them, maybe it will work for me. (Side note, it did not, this time.)

I have not seen exponential growth, yet. I also am intentionally working these as grassroots projects with a marketing budget of zero. The youngest of my forums is averaging around a 6 -12 posts a day from a diverse set of users. The best part is, these users have started "chatting" with one another ... the beginning of community!

Dead? No. Internet forums can thrive in 2023 and most likely in 2024. The challenge that exists is selecting the right topics for the forum(s).
