I would like to ask experienced SEO veterans about simple things. As you can read in title - I would like offer free guest article submissions (maybe paid later, but my blog still have low traffic). Free because it's way how to add content to my website. It's kind of valuable thing because It save my time for produce new articles or hire copywriter.

In this way I allow free guest posting on my side with specific requirements like number of words/length, 1-2 do-follow links etc.

What I should be careful when I choose website to cooperate with?
I mean should I check their spam links or any kind of rating before accepting their article link.

What's red flag for me?

Always ask them not to send any back links to your posts. Because it's not their site, some people send tons of crappy links to their guest post. So be careful with that.

As @kabe said, avoid competitors and in my opinion, you should charge at least $10 for ******** guest posts and make nofollow guest posts free.

Well. You mean avoid to boost article link on my own website with softwares. But how I will know if anybody will do that. I can tell them that I will remove their link but churn and burn things ....

Set standards on the article parameters like number of words (make it similar with good cornerstone posts in your blog), relevancy to the niche of your blog, uniqueness, value given by the content, etc.

Make sure the website that's giving the guest post is not spammy.

Don't offer free guest post unless it's like your test/side project most of the people will guest post just to get the back link with low content quality.

A lot of people would love to get a "more natural backlink footprint" by having you publish their guest posts.

The problem is maybe your blog's niche focus is totally unrelated to the content that you're publishing.

You have to have clear parameters regarding niche coverage, as well as keyword density.

If I were you, I would coordinate closely with people submitting guest posts to make sure that whatever content they deliver is actually useful.

A lot of people who take guest posts tend to view this whole thing as a quick and easy way to get free content.

While that is true, it is also true that you shouldn't fill up your website with absolutely totally unreadable garbage.

At the very least, you should have a clear editorial brief.

These requirements should establish solid parameters as to what qualifies as quality content as far as your blog goes.

Please understand that the higher the amount of editorial control you have, the more valuable your links become.

I know it's a hassle.
