@proxygo

I dont know what you speaking about. I use the settings 1000 connections and 40 seconds timeout. I had 5107 unique proxies in my list (After removing duplicates). I click test (with ipcheck) and got 200 good proxies at the end. Normally I have 300-400 but it changes over daytime. And the time? Exactly 3 minutes and 28 seconds.
So I dont know what you speaking about.
Maybe you screwed your settings? Or is your internetconnection slow? I dont know...

My problem is that when it says it found the link on a high pr site such as an edu I can't find it. Don't know if I am doing something wrong or....

i give up.. pretent i havnt sold
and scanned proxies for 5 yrs..
im off back to playing with my
train set.. peace all

This might have been mentioned before, but when downloading the addons, my anti virus refuses me to run them because they seem to contain a virus. However with a different anti virus I don't get this problem. just wanted to tell the OP

It's interesting that so many Blogengine posts fail, even with no proxy (to test)..yet...in manual mode most are fine. They don't have captchas or anything...so I don't quite get why they don't mostly work fine in auto mode as well.

Proxies - Just to clarify things before you screw up the values and bother SF with support emails...

The Proxyharvester timeout value is the max time SB is allowed to wait until it gives up testing that proxy.
When the proxy test of an individual proxy is completed, SB will go on, and will NOT wait until the timeout is reached.
When SB is testing a proxy, and it take longer than this timeout value, SB will trigger an abort, so you might see something like "aborted on request" etc.

Setting it too low will certainly cause that lots of proxies will fail, because they wont be able to respond in that short period of time.

You have to balance it. More connections = higher timeout value. But you should not go below 10000 (10 seconds).

@SF

I would like to see that the import of url-lists import pr-data too. Normally such files dont import the pr. There is a import at import/export but this thing always deletes the urls in the harvester. So I dont have a chance to put in the data contained in more than one file without merging the files to one.

So you want an "Add to Existing List", right? I think thats no big deal for SF to do.

When I use proxygo's settings above I end up with 0 ... thats right -zero- good proxies, but its a quick zero!

When I use my own settings I can harvest about 200 - 300 proxies in about 5 minutes... and use them all day.

Whats the deal he is making? Everyones connection is different.

I am wireless 1.9MB ... if too many packets fly in 30 seconds, the Radio kills all of the packets.

Its simple proxygo, no one is calling you a liar or talking bad about you, we jusy ALL have very different connections.

Thats why Sweetfunny made it this way!

Try the "proxies for sale " forum http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f112-proxies-sale/

@proxygo: Good for you if you have fast proxies, most people do not have, and they will get 0 working with just 200ms timeout.
Just go back to YOUR sales thread and continue advertising them there, not in the SB sales thread.
The timeout setting is not the time when the PROXY times out, its the time when SB will abort the test.

the reason the proxy harvester fails a lot is very simple
everyone who uses scrape box is scraping the same
5 links - no wonder there's few proxies working coming
from it. all u guys are hammer the 5 sources it leeches
along with everyone else who bought s-box..
simple more people use it less free proxies work
from the scrape....100% fact

only way to get higher results get better proxies
that are not being harvested by 500 people

thats why i harvest from 999
sites uve never heard of

Proxygo is not advertising here, he is trying to offer his observations based on testing he and I have done.

The default settings - for all of the modules, proxy harvester included - are "dialed down" some and can be successfully tweaked. If you have a fast enough pipeline, you can get faster results. And anyone who has used the proxy harvester long enough would know that sometimes - even at the default settings - it doesn't return much if anything in the way of working proxies.

And I'll put it really simply - I would rather have proxies that are slow to respond thrown out than kept and used. When I'm running a scrape of the search engines for several hundred keywords, or posting to thousands of targets, I don't want to wait for proxies that have shit response times. Do you?

It's very bad advice to state that no-one should ever go below a certain threshold for the proxy timeout setting as softtouch says. That's too general a statement. And 10 seconds is certainly too high if you have a decent internet connection and want to get some reasonably responsive proxies. If you have infinite CPU cycles and enjoy burning them up waiting for crap proxies to respond, then feel free. But the settings are there to be tweaked, so start playing with them to get optimal results. I got incredible results from using the very settings proxygo posted. Of course, and as I've said before, your mileage may vary.

If you look at the history of this thread, it's real obvious that some people don't have even a basic understanding of proxies. Some people are STILL running without proxies at all and wondering why ScrapeBox "doesn't work" when they don't use proxies. Other people are expecting the free proxies to work like magic for them. Hell, at one point Sweetfunny actually posted about the idea of taking the proxy harvester out of the app because it was causing so many support headaches and complaints. I was among those who asked her not to do that, and she took the time and effort to find additional proxy sources and to continue supporting a part of the program that is, frankly, not a core component of ScrapeBox.

Proxies have always seemed to be a bone of contention for some ScrapeBox users, maybe it is because the app is so under-priced for what it does. But the bottom line is you are going to get horrible results if you try to run without proxies, you are going to get slow and inconsistent results if you use the harvested proxies, and there are sources out there - including proxygo and others I have mentioned previously - who can provide better proxies for you that will give you much much better results.

proxygo has spent quite a bit of time testing out what settings might be optimal for the ScrapeBox proxy tester and is offering that in this thread for your information. I can verify that the tweaked settings he has come up with work for me.

If you start driving out people who actually offer useful information about aspects of the program in this thread, you're going to end up with just a bunch of newbies posting the same questions over and over. There's enough of that garbage in this and some of the other threads already. Just look at the questions that are being asked - over and over and over. Do you want the thread to become nothing more than questions like "Why do I only get 1000 results from G00gle for my one keyword?"

I think the big confusion was that people thought proxygo was telling people to change to these settings for use with the free proxies that SB scrapes and therefore the people doing this were not finding any good proxies because the timeout was too low.

quite simply if you use the SB scraped proxies then you will have to put the timeout up to about 5-10 seconds to get even a small amount of good proxies.

That's what I meant, but did not explain properly I guess. :D

@gregstereo: As I said, it was meant to be related to the proxies SB offer to harvest.
And I did also a test just now.

72 proxies in list
Timeout 200ms = 0 working
Timeout 10s = 2 working
Timeout default 20s = 5 working

This are the public proxies SB harvest.

Even when using my private proxies, I have no chance to get a single working with a 200ms timeout...

Do people post with their anchor text or just some names?
Any success rate differences?
And is there a way to put anchor text that corresponds with the site?

Thanks

It depends.

Personally, I use 2 random names, 1 keyword and 1 variation of the two.

So, if I was targeting an "natural acne solution" it'd be like;

random name 1
random name 2
the acne guy
natural acne solution

Odd - I haven't had that exact problem except when another instance of SB is running from the same directory. And by running, I'm including time for dumpprep.exe (mickeysoft's "do you want to send an error report for us to ignore" waste of CPU cycles) to work its craptacular magic.

You might try deleting any files in the folder where scrapebox.exe lives that being with "crashdump" (e.g. crashdump_bing.txt). If SB abnormally terminates it sometimes leave behind these crash report files that can be useful. But their existence can also make SB choke on program load.

Try deleting them or renaming them or moving them somewhere other than where you launch ScrapeBox from.

Thanks Gregstereo----

I tried your suggestion and moved my scrapebox.exe to a new folder and it fixed this problem I had.

So if anyone closes scrapebox and gets a dulicate error when trying to open it again, just move the scrapebox.exe to a new folder and your problem should be fixed.
