Web development process management question

Hi everyone, sorry for the weird title I can't really ask or explain this in one sentence so I will do it here,

I'm creating a website which is a resume of myself, and there is of course a lot to do to have it finished.

The question is, well lets say I have for example 32 pages to finish;

Would I first finish designing those 32 pages to have them look like what I want with Lorem Ipsum text, and after I'm done with designing do SEO and content writing? Or maybe do this page after page with SEO and content writing.

I don't know what's more efficient as I have never thought of it this way but would like to hear your thoughts!

First of all, why would you create 32 pages of your resume? Trust me no one going to read all and hire you. Just keep it simple and use very imported points and make it professional.

To answer your question, If you already have the contents do the same time if you don't have the contents yet you can finish the design part and fill the contents later

Yeah true I don't think I even can manage designing 32 pages for one website think it's going to be way less, but I realize I might need to do some more planning now also

efficient in what way?? If you mean with regards to SEO then it doesn't matter, because google can crawl 1 page or 1000 pages at the same time without problems.

If you're on WP go into Settings > Reading (or is it Settings > Permalinks?? I don't remember, but it's one of these), and tick the checkbox that says "discourage search engines from indexing your site" and build your site up page by page or all at once (whichever way you prefer) and when it's finished untick that checkbox to let google know that your site is ready to be indexed. Also make sure to submit a sitemap to your GSC for faster indexing.

But in all honesty, I don't think your site will rank anywhere (not just in google, but in other SEs as well) because it's not a content site, it doesn't target any keyword that somebody will search for. So, I don't think that SEO should be your concern, which means that you can build your site up even in live mode (with that checkbox unticked) and you still won't see any effect, positive or negative, from google. Besides, like @FIREBOSS said, what on Earth are you going to include in a 32 page resume? And nobody will read that anyway, so why 32 pages ??

Work on them offline first mate, that will save you the time.

If its may be cause you have done 32 projects? then start with your top 5 and highlight them on the front page. That's about the average brain span of reading options. Then you can add another section as you have more time, and properly make the first section complete, which is based on your other projects. Maybe set it as a goal to add 5 projects/posts a month. Then you can spend the rest of the time promoting what you have.

oh, my bad

I don't know the answer in this case... although WP is pretty easy to use, and 30 pages are doable in 1-2 hours if you have the content ready. What might take you longer is formatting and figuring out the design, for me the pre-planning / designing part of website building is the most time consuming part, otherwise I can set up a site within 2 hours (content site / blog I mean, ecoms and other types of sites take more time, obviously)...

Anyway, I can't help with the efficiency part, sorry

You should only really have to develop four or five, make her that bit dynamic and then filling content will be like working on a blog... Unless 32 pages really need their own developments?

I am assuming a resume is just an example. What I would do is make the 32 pages with lorem ipsum first, and then try to optimize it with content. The reason is obvious. Some widgets/sections might look good with 2 lines of text, and some others might need 3 paragraphs (just for example). It is hard to do everything at once (e.g. write content, do designing). If I rather do the design first, I then know exactly how many lines of text I need to make it look good. I am probably the worst content writer ever, so I would rather hire someone to do it for me... after I am done with the design (and because I already have the design, the writer would know how much to write, exactly, for each section).

As for SEO, I would do it right from the get-go. I will follow the best practices so that I don't have to change the working website later on and introduce possible bugs.

@ginoootje when you get your head around what he's doing, for your development you'd be developing your navbar, footer and whatever main pages necessary and then forwarding that style on to other pages using simply
