Testing Out BHW Methods: Real Estate Keywords

Spun/AI content is pretty much all I use. I've been using Quillbot for the past few months, which I'm loving. It's great at tidying up content. It's useful also if you hire cheaper or non-native writers. As long as the meat is there in terms of structure, facts, etc., you can take cheap content and make it pretty good with a little work.

I actually have an old site I need to revive. It's 2,000+ fairly low competition home service near me terms spun up with lorem ipsum. The content is so bad lol. Only issue is it's not ranking/getting impressions. I know lorem ipsum can rank as I and others have tested it so I probably just need to optimize the pages.

Awesome!

$2 content is the way forward!

Yeah, as long as you optimize on-page as best as possible.

I run these tests to check demand for niches etc. not necessarily to rank the test sites. So one can find a good keyword or niche, then spend money building out a proper site, etc. you've only got to find that one niche that turns out to have good demand and little competition and you've got a money maker.

I do rank and rent too but never tested niches with spun content. In hindsight it's a damn good idea. The data from search console can tell you if a niche is worth pursuing.

I like this strategy a lot. I already have my neurons firing coming up with all sorts of ideas to test out.

I saw you mention that you start with very basic content and don't even have images on some of the pages. Are you able to share a little more about your content strategy for these if you aren't posting actual properties for sale or even any images?

I'm getting stuck on how to come up with 1,000+ words of content for a search query like "homes for rent near XYZ airport" so that it's deep enough to rank. Also, if someone lands on the page and doesn't see any properties or images and instead is hit with a giant wall of text, wouldn't that create a lack of congruency with their search intent and simply make them hit the back button? Or do you just use generic content to get ranked and analyze impressions, clicks, search volume, etc., and then once you decide it's worth going for, you fill the page out with actual properties?

Any insight you can provide here would be appreciated. Or if you have real examples you can share that wouldn't expose your money sites, even better.

Thanks!

For this I used some content BTB gave me, for the other pages I just followed a similar template but changed some things. So I wrote paragraphs on the location or home style, why might people want it etc. There's not really any reason/format why I did it. Spending time looking at competitiors would be good. It's something I'll certainly redo/optimize if this looks like a good avenue.

As for word count asides from the opening paragraph the rest is just a generic homes for sale article from BTB that has been spun. It's just generic about features of a home and what to know what you want etc. some of the home style ones don't have this spun content and are just AI content are <500 words.

As this is a test site I'm not expecting any leads or decent bounce rates etc. this is just a first step for me to answer the question "are people searching for these obscure terms that have low/no competition" if the answer is yes (which perlimarly it's looking good) then I'll either use the same site and properly design and optimze everything or make a new site. This is a whole new niche for me so in terms of design and monetization etc. I'm new to this, there's some great suggestions in the original linked thread I may try.

I said in an earlier comment there's some unique home styles etc. I see that look promising (that I don't have data on but want to test) where I think I could potentially create a site dedicated to it and have a unique listing site that agents/property managers could post on without the need to feed into MLS. The issue with MLS is that for targeting specific home styles it's not going to work super great. I've actually seen some examples of agents building home style pages and yet the listings aren't accurate at all (they're not x home style).

Good shit, thanks for the detailed response.

How about your internal site structure for these types of sites? I see you're targeting the Philadelphia area in your example, so is your top level domain something like homesinphiladelphia.com and then you make separate inner pages for all of the long tail queries?

For ex:
  • homesinphiladelphia.com/homes-near-drexel-university
  • homesinphiladelphia.com/homes-near-philadelphia-airport
  • homesinphiladelphia.com/3-bed-2-bath-homes
  • And so on...
Or do you get very specific with the top level domain itself and make new sites for each query so they're hyper-focused?

Copy paste from another thread for others to see:

  • chicagorealestate.com/3-bed-2-bath-homes
  • chicagorealestate.com/homes-for-rent-near-airport
  • chicagorealestate.com/best-studio-apartments
This is what I'm doing with my test site. You can setup a blog and use that to build authority. Matt Diggity says content doesn't need to be specific it can be generic like "things to do in Chicago at Christmas". Although if you can find keywords that have local + niche that'd be great. Something like "Chicago home styles" would be an excellent article to write where you could link to a page on "greystones for sale in Chicago" as an example... :)

Question about these test sites.....

I know you build them to gather data (great idea) but if the data is good, do you revamp the test site with quality design and good content?

Or do you build out a new site on a new domain using the data you've gathered?

Depends what keywords I'm testing and the domain I used etc. If I'm testing heaps of terms and the domain is kinda spammy I'll use a new domain but I do have some mass page style sites that are built fairly well that I'll revamp.

Good Stratergy. Are you using AI Content article forge. Or Word AI?

I've used Jasper, Open AI, Article Forge etc. I've done lorem ipsum sites in the past (something I'll do again I think).

I've have an apartment GMB with a linked domain that's EMD in a neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. The GMB gets a bunch of traffic and I've uploaded a bunch of apartment listing posts to a real estate WP theme on the site, but haven't really done much else with it. This might be a good strategy to test with these. I'll do that and post some results here too if that's cool with everyone here...

Mind if I ask what GMB category you use? Are you a Realtor? I've not seen a map pack for many real estate terms, so nothing I've thought about doing.

I am not a realtor at alll haha. I had this crazy notion years ago that I could leverage the GMB to get free rent somewhere. The name of the GMB is "Apartments in *Neigborhood*" and the category is Apartment Rental Agency. But I also own apartmentsin*neighborhood*.com and I used WP upload to upload all the apartments in that area from a scrape i did of Google maps. I was thinking I could just add some pages that target long tail keywords for specific types of houses in the area too. It's a pretty ritzy area, so maybe I could do some outreach to local realtors... not real sure the best way to monetize...

Man that's pretty cool haha. I mean if you're generating a good amount of traffic then I'd leverage that and reach out to appartment owners etc. and see if you could charge them, add featured listings or something etc. If you've not done so already then I'd try and write anything and everything about the neighborhood on your site, build a crazy amount of authority etc. Given how expensive apartments can be I'd imagine you could get a nice fee potentially.

That’s a great idea. Yeah, I have a list of keywords that I need to just bust out content for. I actually have another domain that is google news approved and it’s just *neighborhood*.news. There’s a nice hotel here and lots of other points of interest. I could probably just take over the whole neighborhooddddd

While building citation for your inner page, what do you use for name?
Is it the site brand name or inner page title?
Example:
Brand name: Apartered
Inner page title: Chicago Home for Sale - Apartered
What will you use for N in NAP?
