Testing Out BHW Methods: Real Estate Keywords

I'm going to keep this post short and to the point.

Thank you to @BassTrackerBoats for providing the content.

A few weeks/months back, I threw up a quick WP site, spun some content together and did some keyword research for keywords in a city (specifically looking for obscure terms). I have domains to test and some other stuff, but I've been too busy to do anything.

For now, the site is sitting, aging and not doing much. I believe all pages are now indexed (I submitted a few pages in GSC, that's all, no links built). The pages aren't anything special in terms of length, design, or quality since I've spun a lot and used AI writers to fill in gaps. I ran through CopyScape.

What's the purpose of this journey?

I like testing keywords for data. Throw up pages and see what competition is like and, most importantly, what demand (clicks/impressions) is there.





To be honest, you could probably find the site/keywords. I don't really care that much since it's a test site. Impressions are not super high, but not everything is ranked, and if monetized correctly, you probably don't need much traffic.

I'm sort of creating this journey thread to be an open discussion. I'm open to ideas on what to test and do with the site since it's built to mess around and test things on.

That's it for now. I don't think I have much else to add to the site (that I can be bothered with). If I get time, I'll build out the other few sites I planned to test.

Do you add properties on these target pages ?
Just like the proposed e-commerce approach by BTB ?
That way properties available for rents/sales stays up and contents for google crawlers to feed on.

This will be the goal. It's nice to have fresh content. Right now it's just content slapped together. I'm kind of surprised at how well it's ranking thus far, I know there's not a heap of competition for some of these, but it's still pretty cool. I'd like to repeat in NYC or LA, since the markets are so huge, I bet I can find even more obscure keywords.

I actually just checked a keyword in LA, Zillow is #1 and is meeting search intent. The other results aren't at all, they're just the generic homes for sale in Los Angeles ranking. very interesting. I checked some others and sometimes it's a little more competitive but still kind of meh. I reckon if you built a site around this specific query for every major US city and published content specific to buying a home near this particular amenity, one could outrank the big boys.

I've seen local agent websites outrank the big boys, even for more competitive terms. Google really does love location and niche relevance.

No clue yet. The obvious approach would likely be pull MLS data or setup my own listing site and charge, sell ad space, etc. There was some good suggestions on the original thread.

Nope, just content (not even images lol). I literally fired up a fresh WP install (stock WP theme) and pasted content into the page editor and clicked publish. There are some basic internal and outbound links that are relevant to the location, home style, etc. That's about it.

This is kind of weird. I'm trying to phrase this without giving too much away, so I looked at a popular search term that's related to a specific market (it's in others but most notably in this one). There's so little competition. It's super odd. It has a synonym, but I'd say people would search for this term because it's quite specific (it has search volume, a decent chunk). There are even searches for rental terms.

I might need to explore this more and throw up a site.

Site update: it's starting to age quite nicely now. I can't be bothered to hide the site details. These keywords should be pretty easy to rank with actual optimized content (including supporting content) and links.

None usually. I just let things age and see what happens in terms of impressions etc. I'm more interested in the data, I can build out a proper sites etc. if something looks interesting or I'll put more effort into the site itself. Foundational links of social profiles and citations

Move onto guest post, niche edits and PBNs depending on budget/risk tolerance.

Spun/AI content is pretty much all I use. I've been using Quillbot for the past few months, which I'm loving. It's great at tidying up content. It's useful also if you hire cheaper or non-native writers. As long as the meat is there in terms of structure, facts, etc., you can take cheap content and make it pretty good with a little work.

I actually have an old site I need to revive. It's 2,000+ fairly low competition home service near me terms spun up with lorem ipsum. The content is so bad lol. Only issue is it's not ranking/getting impressions. I know lorem ipsum can rank as I and others have tested it so I probably just need to optimize the pages.
