PayPal negative $9800 advise

Luckily I am not American to have to worry about these pieces of shit, PayPal has ripped off literally thousands of people, every loss to them makes me happy

I've been in similar situation some years ago with Paypal Negative balance... not as high as you...but still close to 1k. Negative balance was for 1+ year ... i didnt login to that account anymore.

After some mails sent by paypal that I ignored through that year, I was called by a money recover company that was representing Paypal (so they said).

They knew already all my details because I also had Real Details.... so I had to choose.... Pay the negative balance or go to court and let the judge decide what will happend.... I chose to pay ....

Better try filling up that negative balance because as some fellow Bhw'ers said ... Paypal is a thief.... and for sure they will do alot of things to get their money back.

Good luck!

That’s why it’s important to have a business insurance, especially when you deal with physical goods and have vehicles/employees.

stop using paypal seriously
start applying for credit card processor

Problem is unless they let me do a reasonable payment plan this will just end up in court anyhow. So I’m torn what to actually do. Also I’m not sitting on hold any longer. I sat on hold almost two hours

Don't let idiots who say "just leave it" fool you. That debt can go up to 30k or even more maybe!!! usually rate that can be added is 100-200% depends on a country.

I told you, you need to pay on time. Right now they might even decline negotiations and this point, they will stretch time so more interest can be added.

Talk to them and explain that you can't afford to pay, you will only pay 10k not a penny more, otherwise you will fight them in a court and for this 10k ask for 1 year plan, maybe they will talk it down to 6 months or so.

All those idiots who say "leave it" just shut a fuck up please. And I am sorry but no i am not sorry, do you guys realize that this can ruin his life? that this money can go up to 20-30k or even more maybe and he lives in US.

Maybe i am little bit more qualified, with 2 law degrees and a bar license ?

Although I’d love to be able to pay them back on one year I simply cannot. I do not have the financial situation to be able to do that. I am again on hold today but I think I am just going to have to wait for this to goto court.

That's bad, but here is what you can do, find a lawyer and prepare first. As i told you this is very technical matter, you need someone who is more qualified and practices this sort of matters.

If it's real business, take a loan to cover up losses? Or maybe use your backup profit to solve the situation, or simply take a plane to another country.

OK, I finally got PayPal on the phone. They said they do not take payments but if I make small payments towards that negative balance, they’re less likely to turn it over to a collection agency but they couldn’t tell me that they wouldn’t. Which to me sounds like they just want to get a little bit of money now and then turn it over anyway. I could be wrong. I did contact a local lawyer just asking simple advice and he did say here in Texas. There’s not a lot. They can be done except for harassment and they can sue me the worst they can do is put a lien on my home but since it’s Homestead, they can’t force me to sell it anyway granted that’s not the solution I’m looking for, but it does give me a little bit of peace of mind that I’m not gonna lose my home and things like that

Good!

Regarding the payment, covering those extra negative that paypal added, I don't think that it's fair. So tell them that you will only pay those 10k if they feel freeze hole amount at 10k ( most likely they won't but try ) and if you start to make payments, remember to record this phone calls and tell them that you are recording the phone ( so this can be admissible evidence ) and ask them to send you official emails, if you get somewhere with negotiations, which you can, there is always a room for negotiations.

Also, some employees over the phone are not the ones making any decisions ask to talk to the manager, who specifically deals with sorts of things, because this might be a lure to gather more evidence or just to take some money from you while they will keep adding debt. simply tell them that 50-50 is not gonna cut it.

I remember 4 years ago I did have problems with them and we negotiated :) but amount was nowhere near that.

But i will say this, this company is shady in many ways. I tried to find percentage and etc how much they will be adding up to what amount and could not find one :) as a user I should not have to search dozens of pages to find terms of our contract, maybe this depends on state, country etc but still weird.

Just don't listen to this nonsense like "fuck it", don't mind it and etc, because you did that and it didn't go too well.

It was buying and reselling collectibles. we were able to buy in bulk and sell them. The problem became the way the business was set up. So the payments would come out, and we would sit basically in limbo for a three week period while everything was waiting to clear. This is the point in time when we lost all of our merchandise, and since it wasn’t a LLC or license business, then insurance wouldn’t cover it. And because of that we had a slight negative and then of course all the charge backs from all the sales. And the reason why there is no extra funds or anything else is that was the last shipment. We were actually doing that was the end of our funds and the end of doing it. We were only doing it to get the down payment for a home. We’ve since bought the home and now we barely have maybe two or $300 tops expendable income after all, is said and done. For that to work again I would need to have 2-3k expendable to get started. It’s just not feasible any longer. Plus the market has changed ‍♂️

I really appreciate all the advice. I’m not sure if it’s causing an interest to get in on it. As those are the fees they put on there for chargebacks. Because I think they put about three grand in fees on chargebacks alone from my simple math.

MegStarHorse

it can be both so ask, talk to them ask where this money came from :) find out first what happened.

I think on chargebacks yes they add some extra -too, but there must be an interest involved as well, so be smart and gather every bit of information you can, but again this is MAYBE because we don't have full picture.

So you will know up to what amount this debt can go to and if it's possible for them to remove extra amount they added, because YOU CAN'T PAY and they will have trouble getting this money from you, I think agreement can be reached. IMHO

Gather all the information, ask questions that is not a crime, call them and calculate with them every cent and if you can get manager on a line even better, since this is not 100$ we are talking about!

And whoever is telling him to just forget this matter, please just fuck off and keep those advices for yourself and for people close to you and lets see how it ends up.

On this forum, you already got legit advices from people and some advices from people who simply don't care or think nothing will happen and it's fine. Rest is up to you, it's your call, since none of us know 100% what's gonna happen.

To those who tell him to just forget, do you even realize that your advice can cost this man a lot?

I plan to wait a couple days and call PayPal back again. I’m going to start with a simple payment to my debt today though. Maybe just $25 just to show to has movement on it. I’m all honesty I didn’t even mean to say fuck it and ignore it. I got involved with life. Had a couple medical issues arise and a family death so go side tracked. I know the creditor could care less but that’s facts.

I think your priority should be restart the business, as for PayPal you can pay for it after business start again or just ignore it.

Ok I have a question for you, or anyone that might know.

PayPal is still not willing to work with me. So this is going to goto collections then surely court. I know I’m the end since I’m in Texas there isn’t much they can ultimately do even after judgement except freeze my bank account. Which will be a pain in the ass honestly. I also know I can simply request a paper check from my job and cash that so I get my money to pay bills and such. Again since Texas cannot garnish wages for debts.

So my question is ADP offers Wisely also. This is where they put your paycheck on a reloadable prepaid Visa card. It isn’t a bank account and has no number like that. Could a creditor freeze that? Or since it’s not a bank card can I get paid onto that card. Just trying to make sure I’ll still be good and able to pay my bills.

please and thank you.

MegStarHorse

Really, they don't want to negotiate?

Regarding your question, since it's not under your name I highly doubt that they can freeze your cash and since it's a reloadable card.
