Hey everyone,
I live and own a restaurant in a seaside resort kind of city where I make most of my business during the 2 months of summer with massive amount of tourists. I precise this point because "de facto" it means that most of my customers are "one shot" since they only spend a few days in my city. This means ORM is extremely important since people don't know you and will chose where to eat according to the best reviewed restaurants in the area.
An old competitor (I only have one with this type of food) made some renovation work, changed his brand name, and have a brand new Google maps/business profile page where he cumulated 25 reviews in a week (only 5 stars of course) which is statistically impossible, even if he'd asked some friends to post some. I've had around 110 reviews in almost 5 years (small city), and know a lot of restaurant owners and bar owners with the same ratio. But apart from this being obviously fake reviews, the names, profiles and the unrealistic tone of the reviews are a lot too suspicious to make me believe a second it's legit.
All this means he's cheating, and getting clients he wouldn't get if he had his old 3,9/5 stars google profile. I have 4,3/5 and appart from asking like 2 friends and like 4 family members to help me out when I started the business (like everyone else I guess) it's all organic.
I wouldn't mine if it was a different kind of business with returning customers as they would actually know we make better food (which is true even though it may sound arrogant, and it's known by the local people). But as I said, it's all one shot.
But more than the money I'd lose because of this, it just drives me nuts this guy is not playing by the rules, even though I profoundly hate the google rating system myself. So I'm kind of like, if he doesn't want to play it by the rules, let's play his game.
And HERE is my question (sorry for the long explanation), I'd like to create fake reviews on him just to make him go down to the point where he was in the first place.
I tried to create new gmail accounts, using a VPN, but since it has to be confirmed by a phone number, my reviews got deleted by google.
I then tried creating a non gmail email account with proton, but even though you can actually make google reviews with it, google will still ask for a phone number in order to confirm ID. So I thought about a burner phone number, but it's too laborious and would cost me money which is not what I want.
Do you know of a simple solution to make, by yourself, fake google reviews without getting caught ? Like do I have to change my device, browser or anything like that ?
I know it may all sound small and silly, but I don't want to destroy this guy and his business, I just want the balance to be restored and I've always been interesting in how you can override this google review system.
Thank's a lot in advance
