Blackhatworld appears to be more white hat now

Seems to me it's more of a work hard, put the effort in, give google what it wants type of stuff now. Blackhat was about spam Google, duplicate content, finding ways to trick Google.

Google has also made it tougher to just spam away and profit. If you want to spam backlinks and wait for google to trash all your work in six months, go for it. If you want more durability across google updates, you need to make your sites less obviously black hat.

Social media has also changed a lot about how people find and share content. Those are new opportunities but search results are not always the best or most valuable way to build revenue.

Been reading through some posts on the forum lately, and 2 things stand out.

When a newbie comes on the forum, and has a go at something, a lot of the long standing members shall we say, seem to criticise in a harsh way, and ridicule them. Never used to be this way when I first joined.

2nd, blackhatworld, again with the long standing members, seem critical of blackhat methods, and I don't know if they realise this, but when they suggest things on how to rank, they more or less suggest white hat ways of ranking.

Could it be that Google now has its way, and turned these once go-getters into armchair whitehats?? After all, this is blackhat world, not white!!
because Google has bought Black hat world. :)

@NO-CLUE-SEO the thing is, it is not 2010 anymore. The forum is still as blackhat as it was back then, however, the techniques themselves have become more sophisticated. With time Google has caught on to the obvious, but you have to remember that at the end of the day it is still an algorithm. There will always be a way to beat the algorithm, and we are still doing it.

Back in the day people used to rob banks at gunpoint, they don't really do that anymore do they? only idiots do shit like that because it is so much easier to get caught now, which is why their methods have evolved (Phishing/online fraud etc.). Similarly, a smart blackhat has also evolved and is now operating with sophistication and care, while still preserving the 'fuck you google' mindset.

If you are unable to spot the 'black', then it is because you lack the ability to understand SEO. To game the system, you have to first study the system in its entirety. Once you do that you will start seeing it yourself. Therefore, I would suggest that you stop bitching, and start putting in the work. If you are looking for easy wins, then you will remain as you are (a little bitch that Google can spot a mile away).

Good luck!

Define your "black hat" techniques
I am positive, your "blackhat" isn't the same defintion as what the "blackhat" in blackhat world represents.
You want cookie stuffers, reverse engineering, forced 301s, cloaking, botnets, doorways etc?
yeah, we don't do that here :)
Funnily enough, all of the mentioned methods are discussed in the forum, except for botnets :D

Digital marketing has evolved a lot since the last 10 years.

Now BHW is behind the standard of digital marketing professionalism.

You can't become a professional by reading things here. Impossible.

Never saw a thread explaining how to use GTM for tracking and remarketing based on user activity for example.

And how to use seo in conjunction with ppc in the best way possible.

The real guys doing seo know pretty well that seo without remarketing campaigns or push campaigns or anything like that is wasted seo.

You don't find "methods" about remarketing, user activity push notification journeys or stuff here.

It's amateurish at best.

And I don't blame it, it's a forum in 2022... and a good one.

PS: the lounge is great you should hang out there :D

I know you’re good at these. You should post some threads to share your knowledge. :)

Instead of turning this into a fish market, I would appreciate it if you could write some threads on those topics haha. At least introduce them here so people know what it is and then they can take it from there. We are all big boys :)

The problem is that I am myself fucking struggling every day with this shit. I would need to create an entire 6 hour lesson only on gtm only on remarketing only on push journeys and email, as we have one professional in each of these doing only this 8 hours a day in hour team and I admit that I try to keep up but it is impossible to stay on top of these if it is not your full time job using the tools.

Cannot just create a thread, it's too long and I need to show how to do these things on screen.

Don't worry, I too get the desire to live in the '70s and '80s, it's been a good time, except I was born in the 90s, and I think the world ceased to exist after 2004 when the internet becomes mainstream.

Change happens, embrace it.

It's mostly a wall to prevent people from attempting to be slick.

They love coming in and saying stuff like "Hi, Im an expert at SEO, totally not trying to sell anything, but I make $10k per month on Adsense. Maybe Ill post a thread with all my tricks". As if that's not obvious.

I admit some members go too hard sometimes at members without bad intentions.

However, spammy/scammy service attempts are a literal every day occurrence.

This forum has given a ton of very good marketers, who earned and learn basic here now have companies that are small but we'll known.
Anyone saying you can't learn things here , is not 100% right. But, yeah extra efforts required.
About SEO , black hat still works like charm for some, but depends on goal and strategy.
And if we are talking about getting harsh on new members it happens here from a long back. Just those threads have gone in the backyard.
